Not seeing results with Insanity?????
Hi. My wife and I have been doing Insanity for about 3 weeks now. I have noticed definite changes but she has not. She is getting frustrated and since I know how hard she is working I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why. She has been watching what she is eating but just isn't noticing any difference in how her clothes are fitting (which is her main objective). Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yea I kinda feel the same way. I'm finishing Month 1 today and i have almost 0 appearance results but i can definately say that my cardio is extremely good. I feel my abs/chest/legs have all gotten stronger but its still very unnoticeable. Im hoping month 2 will kick my ass and eventually burn off the fat i want to get off. I eat right, not strictly the elite plan but i count my calories. Oh well, we'll see what month 2 has to offer, worst case scenario i'll do another round emoticon i recommend you stick to it and dig deeper!
Good Luck!

Tell her I'm having the exact same issue! I just completed my third week today and my biggest goal is to have my clothes fit me looser as well. I actually started a thread called "LADIES - SEEING RESULTS". Some women who have completed the Insanity program were kind enough to reply with what they experienced. Tell your wife to check it out. I have a feeling the 5th and 6th week are going to be when I begin to see some payoff from all this hard work and sacrifice. emoticon Tell her to just stick w/ it till the end...don't give up.

Count your calories and stick with it. I use meal replacement bars for one or two of my meals a day. They're good because they'll fill you up, are generally 200 calories less than a complete meal, and are generally cheaper than having to build a salad.

Don't forget to count your calories when you graze on food too! That's probably the biggest issue when looking at what you eat. When you don't count those handful of M&Ms or bites of someone else's food it really adds up if what you're recording is already at your max calorie intake for the day.

Hi Z,

Diet is always the first place you look. I tell people that the Elite diet should be followed if possible. It took me 3 weeks in to the program to really start getting serious about eating right. And it paid off big time. If you both are following the plan, then about week 6 you should start to really see the results.

The good thing is, you have each other for support. And she can come on here and get further support. The mental part of this program is just as important. I told myself that 1) I paid a lot of money for this so I HAVE to finish it, 2) Rome wasn't built in a day and the extra 60 lbs I added to my frame will take time to get rid of, and 3)I want to prove to people that this program isn't just a fad, that it works, and that I did it to prove that if I can do, they can too.

This program is HARD. No two ways about it. It challenges you physically as well as mentally. I took one of my before pics and hung it on a mirror with a note that said "NEVER AGAIN!". Find that one thing that will motivate you both, find a way to remind yourselves about it, and eventually, you'll be pushing play without even thinking about why you're doing it :o)

I hope this helps in some small way.

All the best,

Aaron

OMG you totally have to stick it out! Here is my story, I just finished Insanity last week, and I was amazed by my results. Everyone see's results differently. The first Month to 6 weeks I was making myself crazy cause the scale wouldn't move. Not a pound lost! Are you kidding me?!!! I'm working harder than I have ever worked in my life, and eating healthy (God knows I've never done that before!) I mean I was following the program, and nothing was happening that I could see. My clothes weren't' changing either. Everyone would tell me most people see changes in the second month, but I was afraid to believe that, and then what I did this for 60 days for nothing?By the end of the program I lost only 10 lbs, but I lost 3 clothing sizes from 14 down to 8. 23 inches total loss and 6% body fat. When I looked at my 60 day picture I couldn't believe it. So as long as your digging deep and really watching the diet part you will see results! Check out my profile for my before and after pictures if you want. It's worth it to stick it out!

It's so great you're supporting her. You see her working hard and you see what she's eating. You know if she's doing everything she can, so you see the program is simply working better for you than for her.

This reminds me of when I first started trying to lose weight. I'd always been uber-thin but, in my late 30s, without any significant lifestyle changes, I suddenly began gaining weight...about 7 or 8lbs/year. NOTHING I did made a dent. In fact, I only gained a little less than a pound per month UNTIL I started cutting calories and exercising daily. That caused the weight to pile on quickly.

Fast forward to last September. I finally said that's it. Either I lose weight, or I become a recluse. So, again, I started cutting calories and working out hard, every day. My diet has been excellent for decades, but there was still room to cut calories. Nonetheless, I gained 7lbs by the end of October. In pure desperation, I typed something like "starving, working out like crazy, but gaining weight" into a search engine. To my amazement, most of the results were associated with women who had the same long-ago-diagnosed-and-almost-forgotten condition I have: polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS. Part of PCOS is insulin resistance (although no doctor ever informed me of this, nor the fact it is associated with weight gain, and a near-impossibility to lose weight).

I read what had worked for some, and decided to give it a go. Keeping in mind this insulin resistance treatment is completely inneffctive for those who aren't insulin resistant.

...Worked like a charm...at first. In 2 months I was down 20lbs from my highest weight, and a little over 10lbs from my September starting weight. Then I tried a new workout routine and it all came to a halt. I went back to my old routine and lost another 7lbs, then that, too, came to a halt. I'm now 2 weeks into Insanity, hoping for change.

But getting back to why I replied...it was my husband who cheered me on through all those weeks of effort, with only weight gain to show for it. He knew how awesome my diet was and how devastatingly-exhausted I was after my intense workouts. He encouraged me to ignore the sanctimonious jerks who didn't know anything about me, but decided my failure to lose weight was becuse I was a secret or oblivious eater (not according to MyFitnessPal!), or that I was taking it easy in the gym. He knew the mantra of "calories in/calories out" was too simplistic or I'd be losing weight like crazy. He seemed angrier about the lack of scientific reason than I was. Without him, I might have given up before finding a seeming solution.

The IR treatment success was vindication, of sorts. Now that I'm at a plateau, even that isn't helping me continue to lose weight. At least I'm not gaining. I'm literally the exact same weight I was a month ago, despite starting Insanity.

Your wife is lucky to have someone on her side. Just keep working the diet and exercise with her, and cheer any accomplishments, to keep her motivated. :-)

I am starting on my 4th week and I have not seen results. Like someone said before, I can tell my cardio is a lot better but as far as actually seeing results and my clothes fitting more loose, well, it just isn't happening. I have been working my butt off with this every day and logging my food and calories, drinking shakeology every day and still nothing. Im totally bummed and very disapointed. emoticon
