Insanity vs. Tae Bo
Insanity vs. Tae Bo
8/8/10 9:50 AM
Hi,

I have done Tae Bo for the last 10 years (off and on). It is by far my favorite workout. But now I really only find the classic advanced challenging. And even then, after doing the same video day after day, it gets pretty easy. I found the Boot Camp series, etc far too slow and boring...I couldn't get through an entire video and I never broke a sweat.

I was wondering if anyone here had done Tae Bo and how it compares to Insanity. I am starting phase 3 of P90X and want to have something lined up for when that is over. I am looking for more calorie burning/toning/weight loss versus muscle gain (I would like to maintain what muscle I have achieved though P90X).

Thanks!

I'm like you and did Taebo videos for about ten years and was looking for something more challenging. I'm on week six of Insanity now, and it's a thousand times harder than any of the Taebo videos, even the most challenging ones. I love Insanity, but my body is definitely going to need a break from it after I'm done, so I just ordered Turbofire in hopes that it will be somewhere inbetween Taebo and Insanity in terms of difficulty. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info. That is exactly what I needed to know. I think that I may order insanity and do the P90X/Insanity Hybrid next.

Tae Bo is so 1990's. It has gone out of fashion along with Billy Banks emoticon I tried the Tae Bo boot camp and the Ultimate workout and it bored me to death. P90x, Insanity & TurboFire are the leading workout of today. Rotate these 3 in a year to prevent plateau and you are set.

I did Tae Bo for ages, and I always loved the workouts. The advanced (Get ripped?) were my favorites. But, I didn't like anything he came out with after them. I thought Boot Camp was boring and Get Amped was awful!

Anyway, Insanity is a great place to move on to after Tae Bo! Insanity is crazy hard and challenging, but you will feel like a rock star when you complete it. It's funny, because I still pull out my Tae Bo every now and then. But now they are considered my "easy" workouts. I use them when I am just not feeling 100%. They used to be my hardest ones and now they are my fallback when I am sore or tired. It's funny how things change.

Anyway, Go for it with Insanity. You will not be disappointed. The only thing I will say is that Insanity will ruin cardio for you forever. You will never find anything harder (so far). Everything else feels easy after you complete Insanity.

Good Luck!
