Share Your Faith and Gratitude
faith gratitude faithful grateful negative thoghts
10/11/10 9:42 AM
Darren Hardy, Publisher of Success Magazine says, "Our mind is an auditing device that seeks to find what is wrong, lacking or missing in our environment. Its job is to avoid danger and ensure our survival with threat-assessment emotions like fear, hesitation and suspicion. If we allow these negative thoughts to dominate our mind and become our expectations they will determine the direction of our creation process. The ultimate result: a lifetime of disappointing and unfulfilling experiences and outcomes.

However, we CAN stop the natural negative tendency of our mind by redirecting it towards abundance and what’s positively possible by focusing it on what we’re grateful for. Almost instantly your life can change its trajectory."

The Faith and Gratitude thread will focus on being faithful and grateful

Through the Team Beachbody community, we can build friendships and relationships that will sustain us and help us grow. As a coach, I have developed so many friendships with my fellow coaches and members that it is a constant source of strength and motivation for me.

One example is fellow Team Beachbody Coach Shanna de Potts, whose personal health struggles would get anyone down, and yet she has become a top coach by giving all of herself to help others. I am so personally proud to know her and to call her a true friend.

Overcoming struggles with faith

8/19/10 8:20 AM as a reply to howtobefit.
At a time when we can least afford it after my wife and fellow Team Beachbody Coach, Christy Dafter left her teaching job for health reasons and is dedicating herself to being a mom and full time coaching, my check today was much less than usual. At other times in my life, I would have felt sick and been worried and stressed. But with faith, we know that God will provide in our times of greatest need. We have our family, our health and our necessities and it is our faith that will continue to sustain and nourish us.

Faith and Fear
faith fear gods plan for our lives
8/19/10 9:17 AM as a reply to howtobefit.
Just one week ago today, I made the final decision to not return to teaching for health reasons, to stay home and raise my children and to be a full time Team Beachbody Coach. Talk about fear, I was consumed with it because I had never not worked and never not been "responsible" as I saw it and earned money for our family. But God has His plan for our lives and we have our own and sometimes they simply don't coincide.

It was a fear of the unknown and as this quote from says, "Fear is a habit; so is self-pity, defeat, anxiety, despair, hopelessness and resignation. You can eliminate all of these negative habits with two simple resolves: I can!! and I will!!" (Unknown). There is also another quote that is especially good, "Fear is the darkroom where negatives develop" (Unknown).

But the best of all is a quote from Marilyn Ferguson, "Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of every fear is freedom."

I now have the freedom to become the best mom that I can be and the best coach that I can be and our home will be guided by the faith in God's plan for our lives:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm, plans to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call upon and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:11-13).

That's awesome Rich. I think a lot of people struggle with fear, and they let it stop them from doing some great things in life.

Faith doesn't come overnight, it has to be worked on daily.

Faith in people wanting to help people
quality of life good nutrition regular exercise body as our temple gospel of fitness positive lifestyle choices
8/20/10 3:32 AM as a reply to fitwithjessica.
As Team Beachbody Coaches, whether we prosper is totally dependent on whether the people we serve flourish and prosper. We are, for the most part, just regular people helping people. The more people that we help, the more people who will come to us and want to rise up and help other people as we have done.

We have a deep seated faith in our mission of spreading the gospel of fitness for surely, that is what it is. We help rebuild, restore and maintain the temples that carry our spirits: "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Join us in having the faith that we do that we can all prosper by helping those around us improve their quality of life with regular exercise, good nutrition and positive lifestyle choices.

As it says in Matthew 22, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself."

Faith and Fasting
faith and fasting reasons to fast shakeology and fasting
8/22/10 4:59 AM as a reply to howtobefit.
We have a wonderful praise and worship workout program that combines the power of your faith with your desire to lose weight and get fit. But what do you do when your faith is being challenged and you need something more than a workout?

Friday night and Saturday were so challenging to me that I turned to an unplanned fast. I had no appetite at all yesterday morning and I decided to simply not eat. I then decided that a hike would be in order to clear my mind. What evolved was a spiritual journey that guided me to do a 2 hour hike in the Sandia Mountains on the Fawlty Trail just north of Tijeras, NM and a virtually all day fast.

Dinner Friday night was a vegan meal consisting of a portabello mushroom sandwich at the Annapurna World Vegetarian Cafe and I didn't eat again until Saturday mid afternoon when I had a Chocolate Shakeology made with plain low fat yogurt, bananas and almond milk. I followed that with a dinner of another Chocolate Shakeology, this time making it the same way as in the afternoon but adding a large scoop of peanut butter.

The result of my fast? I actually felt stronger and my prayers were answered. I experienced extraordinary blessings and my faith was strengthened.

For more on fasting, I suggest turning to this article by Steve Edwards entitled, 10 Reasons to Fast. It starts by saying, "Fasting isn't a trend. It's one of the oldest therapies in medicine and its recorded practice dates back thousands of years. But these days, it's hard to peruse the magazines at your local market without being provided a myriad of "trendy" fasting options promising greater health, spiritual enlightenment, and most of all, weight loss. It's also pretty easy to find literature warning of the dangers of fasting. So let's have a look at fasting, its history, benefits, and whether or not you might want to make it part of your lifestyle."

Let's start today by being thankful and reading some quotes from Oprah Winfrey

“Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.”

“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.”

“What God intended for you goes far beyond anything you can imagine.”

Let's bring it today in faith and gratitude!

The choice of attitude
8/24/10 4:38 AM as a reply to howtobefit.
Here is an absolutely wonderful quote from Charles Swindoll that Jessica Henderson has on Facebook that I want to share here:

“I believe the single most significant decision I can make on a day-to-day basis is my choice of attitude. It is more important than my past, my education, my bankroll, my successes or failures, fame or pain, what other people think of me or say about me, my circumstances, or my position. Attitude keeps me going or cripples my progress. It alone fuels my fire or assaults my hope. When my attitudes are right, there is no barrier too high, no valley too deep, no dream too extreme, no challenge too great for me.” ~Charles R. Swindoll~

Healthy Families
8/29/10 3:58 AM as a reply to howtobefit.
Our role as Team Beachbody Coaches is to build healthy individuals so that they can be role models for the rest of their families and make their families healthy.

Equally important is the spiritual component to the health of the family. blogger Lee Papier uses the I Ching to explain why healthy families are the proper foundation of human communities. He says:

"A healthy family, a healthy country, a healthy world all grow outward from a single superior person.

All families or clans must have a superior person at their center if they are to prosper and succeed. Therefore, in order to improve our family, company, nation or world community, we must begin by improving ourselves.

If you observe healthy families, you will always see present in them three qualities: love, faithfulness and correctness. When we truly love others, we are naturally kind, gentle and patient with them. When we are faithful to others, we place proper principles and conduct above temporary influences like anger, desire or greed. And when we practice correctness, we spiritually nourish ourselves and all those around us. When all three qualities are cultivated, a healthy clan springs naturally into being.

Prayer in Times of Trouble
9/1/10 4:37 PM as a reply to howtobefit.
Lord, in every need let me come to You with humble trust saying, "Jesus, help me."
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations, Jesus, help me.
In hours of loneliness, weariness, and trials, Jesus, help me.
In the failure of my plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles, and sorrows, Jesus, help me.
When others fail me and Your grace alone can assist me, help me.
When I throw myself on Your tender love as a father and savior, Jesus, help me.
When my heart is cast down by failure at seeing no good come from my efforts, Jesus, help me.
When I feel impatient and my cross irritates me, Jesus, help me.
When I am ill and my head and hands cannot work and I am lonely, Jesus, help me.
Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls, and shortcomings of every kind, Jesus, help me and never forsake me.

Prayer For Trust
9/6/10 4:43 AM as a reply to howtobefit.
O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

For our souls which are in Thy keeping
For thy miracles which we witness daily,
And for Thy wondrous deeds and blessings toward us at all times.
