P90X + Insanity at the same time. Recommended? Or psychotic?
I started using P90X in August 2010. When I started I was pretty out of shape and overweight. I finished the P90X session last month, and moved on to Insanity to burn the fat so I can see more muscle P90X gave me. But Insanity is hard to look forward to. Unlike P90X, Insanity just doesn't give me that "pumped" feeling.

So I've been thinking. What if I restart P90X, and then after a P90X routine, take a small break then jump into that day's scheduled Insanity routine? Right now I'm two weeks into Insanity, and it has already gave me more energy on top of the energy I gained from P90X, so I'm feeling pretty confident.

I was just curious if anybody else has done this hybrid workout and what kind of pre-workout/recovery supplements that I should look into (I've taken Muscle/Monster Milk as my recovery drink after P90X and Insanity sessions). And I'm currently taking multi-vitamins (GNC Energy & Metabolism), thermogenics (Atro-Phex), and metabolism jumpers (some off-brand supplement containing South African Hoodia).

I'm more interested in burning fat than I am building muscle. I've been overweight for most of my life. I love the results I've gained so far, but they're not enough. I'm not at my comfort zone yet.

So:

Is it safe to do P90X and Insanity at the same time?
What kind of supplements should I take to ensure I don't "bonk", as Tony Horton would say.

That would be way too much. You would burn out quick if you did both workouts in the same day... I would recommend a hybrid program. Do the P90X resistance days and substitute the P90X cardio with the Insanity cardio.

After restarting P90X today, I had NO interest in doing a 40-minute Insanity session. What I'm going to do instead is a bit like you said, but Mon Wed Fri = P90X and Tue Thur Sat = Insanity. I might do Yoga or X Stretch on Sunday to recover.
