Hi Everyone,

I just finished my third full round of P90X about 10 days ago. I started in February and along the way saw great results and met some awesome people. Some started their journey with me 10 months ago, and some others were vets in the world of P90X and Beschbody. I know I wouldn't have made it this far without the support of those I've met on the boards so we're all getting ready to kick off another round after the first of the year. Some have started already, others are doing hybrids of P90X and Insantiy. So, whatever your workout, be it your 1st round of P90X or you 10th come on and get on board. For the first timers, this will be a great place to get advice of those that have completed these workouts many times. It also will help you meet others that are struggling with them for the first time just like you.

I'm trying to stay active during the 2 weeks or so between rounds. I just did Total Body plus this morning from the P90X+ series. First time doing that workout and it was a challenge, but next time I will do better.

Can't wait to meet all the new people getting ready to hit 2011 hard.

Tim

Thanks for taking the lead on the thread, Tim. Here's my accountability:

Day 18/Round 3 FOY Yoga done yesterday morning and Day 19/Round 3 Upper Plus done this evening. Today was just so jam packed with activities that I was not able to work out until this evening. Unfortunately, I ate a little too much at Christmas Eve dinner with friend this afternoon, which gave me an upset stomach. I pushed through Upper Plus but skipped the ab routine because I felt like I needed a bucket when I finished combat pushups at the end of Upper Plus.

After looking over my schedule for the next two months, I realized that I have a lot of night meetings for work, and there's just no way I am going to be able to handle doubles this round, so I'm changing my schedule back to P90X+ classic. I just may add in some cardio from time to time when my schedule permits.

At the risk of not being politically correct, let me wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Hurray for the new thread.

Round 3 day 8 - chest and back complete. It was solid but I got a little woozy at the end due to not eating close enough to my workout. I also skipped ab ripper because of the crazyness of today but I will do ab ripper as well as plyo x on christmas day! Gotta burn some cals to make room for that yummy turkey that is going in my belly. (and thanks to over 2 rounds of p90x, by belly I mean pretty rock solid wanna be sixpack thing under a very very thin stubborn going to go away by the end of my third round layer of fat!)

Merry Christmas everybody!

KPP,
Marc

Hey guys,

I'm in! Going to wrap up a month or so of heavy lifting through January, maybe into February, until Insanity Asylum comes out and I'll move into that for a round.

Looking forward to pushing the limits and seeing some new faces along the way.

Hello Everyone!!

I am in also. I am currently at my parents and am looking around for a mekeshift pullup bar. I did not do Legs and Back yesterday. I may just crank out a leg workout today and next week is a recovery week, so I am not sure what I will do exactly. Return home Wednesday to start the 2nd Phase of my modified round 4.

Look forward to the new thread and bringing it in the New Year.

Hello everyone,

I'm the rookie one - starting my first P90x strait of a couch on 1/3/11. The beast ( obesity ) cought me off guard and I was gaining few pounds each year. it actually never bothered me that I was getting larger and larger - I am working in front of computer whole day so you don't notice things like that. Now I am 240 lbs and 5.9 . Few years back I bought my first motorcycle, still no problem since it was a harley - easy cruising was quite fun even with my weight. This year I moved more towards adventure riding and finally dirtbike riding. First big shock was when I tried to buy some dirtbike cloth - I barely fit in 38 pants - largest size produced, and I tell you it was tight. I went for few rides looking like a Michelin man and every time I jumped on a bike even a bit, my suspension hit the ground hard. I was way to heavy for the rear spring and I could injure myself and destroy the bike that way. I've looked around for stiffer spring for my suspension - there was none for my weight on the market

So... enough is enough - That is the first real time that my body failed me and because of that I could not do the things I want. I tell you, that was a big slap in the head. I had to face the reality that I am in terrible shape.

My goal is to loose weight - from 240 to 180 and gain whole body endurance. I am planing to enter my first big long distance enduro race in early autumn, its a 4 day race and right now I can handle 1-2hours of heavy offroad riding. So, goals are bold and the timeframe I've got is 6 moths to be in the best shape I could be.

I could start right now but I am taking this week to prepare my body for this kind of exercise - at this moment I would probably last for like 10-15 minuets of training and would be almost dead on the floor. So running and cardio and I'm starting on Jan 3.

glad to be here

round 3 day 9- plyo X- ROCKED

totally dominated plyo X today after a narly not so healthy huge family christmas breakfest. I did not make up arx from yesterday but I was very happy with how todays workout went.

Flintx- glad to have you on board, you've chosen a great group of people to go through your first round with. I started my first round of P90x at 235 pounds 5'9. after two full rounds (and a little down time) I am currently 168 pounds. I went from 235 to 173 in two rounds so maybe that would give you a realistic time line as to when you can expect to hit your goals. Bring it every day, eat right and tap into the accountability of this thread.

going to ride the turkey sleepyness to bed early so I can wake up and fend of the psycho boxing day shoppers. Ends up moving your Xbox while it is on causes a permanent deathly circle scratch which renders any disk unreadable. So my $70 Halo Reach is useless. Just so happens it is on at bestbuy tomorrow for $35! 5:30 am wakeup for me, I'll probably hit up shoulders and arms after I return.

KPP,
Marc

Status Update:

All major work has been done to the living area of the new digs.....Today, work begins on the "Dammit Gym". The epoxy floor has had its two weeks to cure, so on to the fun stuff.
Today I will install all the lighting and begin the layout for the shelving, flat screens, mirrors & speakers. This version of the "Dammit Gym" will be set up, so 4 people can do any X or Insanity workouts at once. This way when someone wants to join in......There will be no excuses!! Haha!!!
Hopefully I will be completd by the 2nd so as to start on the 3rd.

See you there!!

Marcus

P.S. Santa brought me a new bigger Soapbox and a HUGE sack full of sarcasm.......

Hey everyone,

My brother in law came over today for a chest & back workout. We did the first 5 sets of push ups, then moved into dumbbell presses for the rest of the chest work. Great workout, left us all pretty blasted.

Flint - welcome to the group! As a beginner, it's good to know your limitations. Tony says quite often to hit the pause button when you have to. Take that advice. Also know that your first week is going to HURT like you may never have hurt before. Push through muscle soreness, but never injuries. You will know the difference between the two.

By way of comparison, when I first started, I was all but completely gassed 1/2 through Chest & Back, several of my last sets of push ups were only 2 or 3. It gets easier and you can push further every week.

Nutrition will be HUGE for you. Remember this: The nutrition guide states there is no calorie deficit built into this program; thus it's made to keep you at your current weight if you follow the computations in the guide. YOU need a calorie deficit. I'd eat solidly at level II, 2200-2400 calories per day. Do what the guide says: measure your portions, track your calories in a journal or online log (I use fatsecret because my phone has a great app for it). That's going to account for 60% or more of your results.

Marcus - Great to hear the "Dammit Gym" is coming along so well! Looking forward to the new and improved soap box!

Scott - do what you can at your parents.. something is always better than nothing. Even if it's 10 sets of squats & lunges or whatever, you might not get uber-ripped with that kind of workout, but it is enough to keep your body going.

The new year is right around the corner!

Derek

Hey Everyone,

Glad you've all found your way to the thread.

Welcome Flintx. Marc said it, this is a great group with some heavy experience, especially the likes of Marcus and Derek. As Derek said, don't be afraid to hit pause. I wanted to die that first time through Plyo X. I'd hit pause and lay down to catch my breath. One thing you'll learn is to modify for your fitness level. Tony shows you how to modify everything so no worries. As for nutrition that is huge. My first round I was absolutel obsessed with hitting my calroies and Fat/Protein/carb ratios everyday. My wife would roll her eye when I'd weight everything I ate at dinner but it worked. The first few weeks will be tough but keep pushing play every day and you'll be reward. Ask questions, everyone on this thread will be more than will to help out.

I'm still in awe of Marc's results from two rounds. Going from 235 to the low 170's is incredible. I lost about 32 in two rounds going from 214 to 182. My Day 1 and Day 180 pics are below. Round three which I just completed was about lifting heavy and gaining size and strength. I'm doing that again this round, eating upwards of 3,000 calories a day hoping to end up about 195 at the end of March, then the plan is to drop my calories back down to 2,200-2,400 lowering my weights a bit and upping the reps and really committing to some intense cardio to burn off the excess fat I put on over rrounds 3 and 4. Not sure I'm ready for Insanity Asylum, will wait for Derek's report on that. Insanity was insane enough for me and I only did it for 3 weeks

Hello everybody,

I am noob to P90x and looking to start my first round 1.3.11. Sitting in front of a computer has done bad things for my belly. I'm 5'11" 230 hoping to get back under the 200 mark. I have heard nothing but great things from this program and I am very excited to start. Heres to healthier body in 2011!

Thanks everybody,

Matt

Flintx and RMHenry, welcome to the boards. These boards are a great source of information and inspiration. My story is not unlike each your stories. On January 1, 2010 I weighed 245. I lost down to 225 by just doing cardio over a four month period, but I needed to kick up the intensity. I started my first round of P90X on May 17th, and two rounds later (and a part of a third round), I'm down to 190 and am in much better shape. My simple advice to you is to trust the program (both exercise and nutrition) and use these boards for support. It will help you through.

As to that third round, I started it on December 3rd, but I've hit a bit of a snag--I've been sick since Christmas Eve and can't seem to shake it--and I have not been able to work out since Friday. Technically, I've only missed one workout, but I feel bad enough that I'm not sure if I will be able to work out for another few days.

Also, I'm rethinking what my program should be going forward, so I've decided to make this a recovery week and to start a new round of some version of P90X on January 3rd so that I can synch up with some of the folks on this thread. I haven't figured out what I'm going to do yet, but it may not be a straight P90X or P90X+ program. Derek, I'm going to check out your hybrid program to see whether that is something that I may want to do. Also, I'm open to suggestions from folks on the Boards.

Have a great day everyone, and KPP!

thanks guys, I already can tell you are a great bunch emoticon
And I got to tell you, your results are awesome.

Marc - all I can say is WOW

Tim - you are ripped man, I envy you.

I know that real diet is crucial to the proces. And that I got to create a calorie deficit. I would love to go around 1500 minus calories daily.
P90X workout is around 600 calories burned but I'm not sure how much calories my body needs every day.
Thats why tomorrow I got an appointment with fitness dietary specialist that will prepare custom tailored diet regime.
5 meals a day with low glycemic index so I wont be tempted by hunger to bite something between meals.
Already cleared my fridge from all unhealthy food, I got to say - 90% of the stuff I had in my fridge was junk, no wonder I am in that shape.
People do not realize how much unnecessary stuff they eat, its hard to imagine. But after I have put all the stuff on the table and looked on that junk
bleeeeh. Its like you are what you eat right ? So I'm a bit of pizza, m&m, etc.

its a bit hardcore for me - but I think that its better to go all the way then half way like eating healthy but not sure how much and what.
Going to be hard for sure but with your help I'm sure the mountain top is within reach.

here are few facts about my current figure

height 5.9
weight 236

waist 42.5
hips 44
chest 43
arm 14.7
thigh 24

body fat : ??? probably will know tomorrow after check up

I would like to join this thread as well. I see a lot of veterans and hope that they will be the force to push me through to the end.

I started my first round of P90X back in October. I followed the program for 30 days and lost 10 pounds. In November, my mom ended up in the hospital for a week and I stayed with her during that time. I didn't know if it was best to pick up where I left off or just start over. With Thanksgiving and Christmas coming at the time, I just decided to start over on 1/3/2011.

I do very well with nutrition plan. I find it easy to me to eat all the right foods and snacks. My main problem is getting up early to do the workouts since I do not have enough time to do them after work.

I hope to stay on the wagon this time. My goal is to be in great shape for this summer and my wedding in October.
