I'm David and I went from 205 lbs, 25% bodyfat to 177 lbs, 8% bodyfat in 6 months using P90X and the right nutrition & supplements.

Another Update: I just finished Insanity Asylum and have posted my Insanity Asylum Results video showing 60 days of Asylum!

Update: I have finished Round 2 of P90X!!! See my updated P90X video!

Round 2 was all about adding lean muscle!!

In 13 weeks, I gained 12.5 lbs! A little over 9 lbs of muscle and 3 lbs of fat!

After a busy career in marketing, 3 children, school in the evenings, being a Boy Scout leader and an active member at Church, my health had been neglected! The stress and poor sleeping habits had taken their toll on my body! Reaching 205lbs, high cholesterol and little energy was enough for me to want a change.

In June 2010, I started following a strict diet based on “Mastering Your Metabolism” with Jillian Michaels and supplements from Dr. Mercola. I made some great progress but I was back into the same weight-lifting routine I’d done ‘off-and-on’ for the past 12 years. I still couldn’t run a ½ mile without feeling like I would pass out.

In October 2010, I started P90X and later Shakeology and by December, I dropped 37lbs of fat and gained 9 lbs of muscle. I went from 25% body fat to 8% body fat and ended up at 177lbs!

Pull-ups are a big part of the p90x program for building back strength. At the beginning, I could barely do 3. Just 90 days later, I was able to do 16 unassisted pull-ups!

After just 6 months, I’m in the best shape of my life and amazed at my results. I’m still super busy but the stress is gone and I have tons of energy. At Thanksgiving, my sister said I looked 10 years younger!

I’ve always preferred the gym for working out but after going through P90X, I’m convinced that working out at home is not only just as effective, it’s a lot more convenient! I haven’t been to the gym in 90 days and have no plans to return.

My wife was so impressed with my results, she suspended her gym membership and is now
doing TurboFire (another Beachbody program geared towards women).

I’m excited to share how I did it and “pay it forward” by helping others achieve similar results.

Hi I'm David's Wife Kate.

Exercise and nutrition have always been a passion of mine. My friends know me as being into fitness and I’m always helping others to be healthy. Thanks to the programs from Beachbody, I’m at my lowest weight in 10 years and still progressing!

As a mother I feel like it’s my responsibility to teach my kids how to make healthy choices and eat nutritional meals. After becoming educated about the chemicals (high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils etc) being put into our food, I’ve removed the many “toxins” from our meals and replaced them with healthy alternatives. I’m always looking for nutritional food at a great price.



As far back as I can remember I’ve worn a size 12 pants even though I was always active playing sports. Now, I’m a stay-at-home mom of 3 wonderful children and it’s even more difficult to keep the weight off. After my last baby I developed depression and stopped caring about my appearance. I was stressed out, gained weight and felt sorry for myself.

After delivering 3 kids I had developed back problems. Two years ago my doctor gave me two options: have back surgery or lose weight. Surgery was out of the question in my mind. I would have to lose weight. I did what people normally do…I joined a gym. A few months later I really wanted to challenge my body so I entered the “Body for Life” competition. I lost a few pounds but couldn’t break past a plateau. I needed more help so I hired a personal trainer and added more cardio. I went to Zumba and pilates classes. I lost a couple of pounds but it came back. I was becoming discouraged because I had hit a hard plateau and couldn’t break it.

I saw David’s results with P90X and was amazed with his change in only 60 days when I had been running and lifting weights for over 18 months. I even had a trainer for 9 of those months!

I finally broke through my weight-loss plateau!
I decided to take a chance and try one of the Beachbody programs called TurboFire and the weight-loss meal replacement Shakeology. I even cancelled personal training and put my gym membership on hold. In just first 4 weeks I broke my plateau and lost 5 lbs, over 4 inches off my waist, hips and legs!

UPDATE: FEB 22nd 2011: I FINISHED TURBO FIRE!!!

After being stuck at a weight-loss plateau for 9 months, I lost 13 lbs in 84 days!!


I’m at my lightest weight in 10 years, and bought a size 6 skirt last night! I’m so excited to be progressing again. I really believe Beachbody has unlocked the key to weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. The great thing I love about the Beachbody programs is the accompanying nutrition plans that go with them.

Thanks man. Yes, round 2 starts today! P90X schedule but with some P90X Plus, and 1on1 discs mixed in.

How about you? Are you doing P90X?

Hey I was reading in my TurboFire book that oats are a great source of soluble fiber. This will help lower colesterol. High fiber cinnamon oatmeal for breakfast anyone?

Hey Everyone - just checking in. I'm glad to see everyone is finding this thread.

Today was my first day of round 2! I'm mixing in P90X Plus and Tony Horton 1on1 discs. I'm still following the original P90X Schedule though.

Wow it felt GREAT to workout today after being off for a week. I totally killed Ab Ripper X! Recovery weeks work wonders to strengthen the body. I did Upper Plus from P90+, hmmm not my favorite so far.

Tomorrow, I will be substituting one of the Interval workouts for Plyometrics.

Hey David, nice job and congratulations on the fruits of your efforts. You look great.

I am curious, did you remain on Jillian's metabolism plan while doing the X or did you drop that with your "old" approach when going on to the "X".

I am in round 2 and eating is still a challenge for me - not eating near enough. would love to be able to Chow down on what works for me and my metabolism.

Thanks for the compliment - I appreciate it. I definitely feel GREAT.

To your question, here's how I blended the 2. I used the P90X Nutrition plan as a starting point and then layered Master your Metabolism over it. My opinion is that Master Your Metabolism is a little more strict in the sense that it puts a spot light on how foods affect your weight-loss/gain hormones (aka your metabolism). So if the P90X plan said the food was okay and MYM said "avoid it", I avoided it.

Basically, I followed the 40/40/20 ratio (protein/carbs/fat) from P90X and the suggested calories. For the first 3 months, I was at 1900 calories, then went up to about 2100 for the first 30 days of p90x, then 2300 for next 30 days of p90x and then 2500 for the last 30 days, while maintaining the 40/40/20 ratio.

I then ate healthy, whole foods and avoided the junk. It's amazing how it 'resets' your metabolism and your body just burns through the food AND the bodyfat.

Later tonight I'll post some food lists to my website of what I eat on an average day.

So you started with eating 2100 calories a day? I haven't looked up the guidelines, but I would imagine per P90X you should have been eating more. I ask this because I think this is the biggest problem I am having right now. I'm being told I should eat close to 3,000 calories a day. To me, that's like insanity, lol. But you seem to have had great progress on a much lower calorie intake.
