shakeology weight watchers

I've JUST started the Weight Watchers PointsPlus program and I'm finding mixed answers on how many points Shakeology is worth.

I've heard 2 and 3.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Thanks a bunch!! emoticon

when I put in the points from the info on the back of the bag

1 g fat
17 g carbs
3 g fiber
18 g protein

it calculates 4 points, but I hear 3 so what gives?

It is definately 4. Doesn't seem 'fair' tho' since it is made with such good stuff, you'd think it would fall into the '0' category, like fruits and veggies.

The idea behind the points system is to assign points based on the energy provided by the nutrients in the food. Foods high in protein tend to have more points, but stay with you longer like lean fish and chicken.

Vegetables and fruits are generally 0 because of the high fiber and nutrient content. Shakeology is essentially ground up dried fruits and vegetables, so it should be zero.

For example, the points in a typical medium banana are two, but weight watchers counts them at 0 points plus. Weight Watchers assigns a zero value due to the high amounts of vitamins and fiber in the banana.

I think a strong arguement could be made to assign Shakeology a much lower points value of 1 or even zero. the vitamins and minerals and fiber are similiar to those found in raw fruits and vegetables.

Just my .02...I think it would be hard to get 'fat' off just plain shakeology mixed with water.

:-)

I have three points left for the day. That's enough points for FIVE Hershey's Kisses, but not for a glass of Shakeology mixed with water? That doesn't make sense! Clearly the Shakeology is a much better choice.

Darlene,

Can't you grab a few "extra" points by doing some walking or other exercise? Because, yes, I agree, Shakeology is Waaaay better for you than the Hershey kisses. Great point and I think it's worth going over by one point for the health benefits!
