Get rid of FedEx SmartPost
2/16/11 12:10 PM
I ordered TurboFire on 2/14, and shipped 2/15. I take a look at my email with the tracking info and see it was shipped from Sacramento CA. "Great!" I say to myself - I should get it in a couple days. Then I notice the expected delivery date...2/24 by FedEx SmartPost! Really??? 6 business days to go from Sacramento CA to Roseburg OR? A trip that would only take 2 days UPS Ground, and 3 days by general mail. So I look on the FedEx website and see that a 3.8 pound package to go to "Zone 4" (301-600 miles)is $6.86. Really??? I payed $24.95 for shipping and handling (plus the "free upgrade to Express shipping. A $15.00 value") - so I'm paying $18.09 for "handling." Really? Isn't industry standard for "handling" 5%-6%...that's what we use at the company I work for.

After being bombarded by extra offers, extended warrenties, "free" trials, etc at checkout I felt like I just left sleazy used car lot...then to see the price gouging on shipping/handling just leaves me with a bad taste for Beach Body....It just doesn't seem like customer satisfaction is top priority.

Please Beach Body stop using FedEx SmartPost. The internet is littered with so many bad reviews of them. I wish they would spend the extra $6.00 it would have cost to send it UPS....

Having the same problem, I ordered Shakeology on 2/9 it shipped form Grove City Ohio it is now 2/16 and I still have not received it. It arrived on 2/14 from Fed Ex to my local post office here in Charlotte...so I wait.

Fed Ex has doubled their shipping rates in the last 2 weeks, this is the result!

I'm going to jump on the "BOO FedEx Smart Post" bandwagon! This service is RIDICULOUSLY expensive and SLOW!!!

I placed an order on Thursday, 3/10/11 and with previous orders, shipped via UPS, this order would have been on my doorstep by Monday, 3/14/11. I am in Indiana, my fulfillment center is in Ohio.

It is now Wednesday, 3/16/11 and I am being told my order won't be here until the 18th, and I was charged $32.70 for shipping!

No thanks. Sorry Beachbody, but until you dump this shipping, I'm done ordering.

I had planned on officially starting my membership to Beachbody's community when I received my dvd's but signed up early to see if anyone else has had issues with Smart(????)Post. This service is a joke and I cannot believe Beachbody, who's business relies on the shipment of their products, uses such an awful service! I had never heard of Smart Post until this order, so I was optimistic, especially seeing that my order was shipped the day after ordering and logged on right away to track its progress. My original "expected delivery" was 6/24 so imagine my surprise and excitement when I saw the "out for delivery" notice on 6/22. I skipped running errands and instead sat around waiting for the knock and it didn't come. I've had shipments be delayed due to bad weather (although late June in Ohio is beautiful and sunny) so I wasn't overly concerned, I logged onto the tracking site to find that the status had not been updated nor has it been since. I just tried calling FedEx and was told that it was delivered to the local USPS office and while the FedEx website says please add an additional 1-2 days for delivery she assured me it could take an additional 5-10. Luckily I thought to check USPS's website now that I know FedEx washes their hands of it to find this:
"We attempted to deliver your item at 9:07 am on June 22, 2011 in ELYRIA, OH 44035 and a notice was left. You may arrange redelivery by visiting www.usps.com/redelivery or calling 800-ASK-USPS, or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice. If this item is unclaimed after 15 days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later."
First of all I was home at 9:07 am and heard no knock-I have a dog that barks if someone walks within 10 yards of my front door so they wouldn't have been able to sneak by, second there was no notice at all!

So much for my "free upgrade to express shipping". Based on the complaints on here and the 100's I found after googling "smartpost" I'm shocked and dissapointed that Beachbody would continue to use them.

OK...I'm going to throw this out there in defense of Beachbody. SmartPost, like it or not, is here to stay. Both FedEx and UPS have it. It has zippo to do with Beachbody. If you don't want it, simply have it shipped another way, it's not the only option.

UPS and FedEx have both severely scaled back their number of drivers and vehicles. SmartPost like options allow them to make bulk deliveries to a central location. It's simply economics. Less disposable income overall = people ordering less stuff = less profits = less drivers. I live in a relatively rural area, and half of my "FedEx" orders come via a rented Budget truck!

Threatening Beachbody because of shipping options will get you nowhere. It's out of their hands. It's a viable option offered by FedEx, so why wouldn't they offer it?

It also has its pluses. Since it's ultimately delivered by the USPS...you can get Saturday deliveries.

I've also never had anything not delivered because I wasn't home. Ultimately that's up to the driver. Unless something's specifically marked signature on delivery (which, to my knowledge nothing is) then your driver or mail person is to blame for not leaving it there for their own reasons.

Hope this clears some issues up!

I have had later deliveries every month. I am very disappointed in the service and the fact they would not give me my commission because it took over a month to get it straightened out. Apparently they are getting to big to keep up with orders or just dont care. After talking with a representive today, I feel like quitting the whole program. [Edited By John]

fedex smartpost usps shipping option
12/28/11 9:39 PM as a reply to gabec.
I agree. This FedEx smartpost is not a good shipping option. My package shipped out on 12-12-2011 and it is the 12-29-2011 and I still have not received my package. The expected delivery date was 12-17-2011. I contacted beachbody and they were kind enough to reship my order. Which is great!! I really appreciate it. But they shipped it using the same method. AND I have not received the second shipment either. The delivery date for the second one was 2 days ago. NOW 2 orders sent out and still no sign of anything. FedEX and the USPS have been contacted by me several time. NO word on where my packages are. I am just hoping I get one of them by New Years. I think adding some new exercise to my workout would be a great way to start out the 2012.

I just wanted to add that Fedex called me and stated my first package is considered lost. And I still have not received my second package from them. It has been 2-3 weeks and way past the 2-5 business days that they promised. I know it is the holiday season, so maybe I will get it later this week. But I don't have a lot of confidence in them right now. I did monthly payments on this too. I am going to be billed my second payment(after the original one) and still have not received any DVDs.

Here's the problem with your original gripe as I see it. It has nothing to do with Beachbody offering Smart Post. FedEx screwed up. First...Smart Post is NOT a required method of shipping, you can opt for a different method. Second...if it didn't come Smart Post, it would simply come via Fed Ex, and you'd still be experiencing the same problem. I've had problems with Fed Ex, UPS, DHL, USPS. Once it's in their hands you can't blame the shipper. Fed Ex losing your packages is not Beachbody's fault, or responsibility. If anything their sending out a new shipment based on nothing more than one's word that it never arrived speaks volumes!

I do not blame beach body for my lost package. I know they did not lose it. I feel they should use a shipping method that is more dependable. I never had any problem with any other shipping methods. Even during Christmas. I know they us Smartpost because it is more cost effective. Also, When you place an order at the web sites they do not give you the option of alternate shipping methods. Unless you want expedited shipping. I did not know they were using Smart Post and I never even heard of it until I had this problem. AND A LOT of people have had this problem. I am not sure if Fedex screwed it up. They deliver the package to a local site and then it is suppose to be distributed from there. The post office said it can take a month or longer sometimes. It has been 3 months since my original order none of the original packages arrived. LOL. I am planning on ordering some Shakeology. I hope all goes well.

I was actually here to update my post. I wanted to compliment Beach Body on their excellent costumer service. They shipped my package 3 times!!! Smartpost had LOST the first TWO shipments and for the third shipment (at my request of an alternate shipping method) BEACH BODY sent it out 2 day air mail. With processing and the weekend, it still took about a week to get it. But I was so excite to finally get it. Thanks.

I have to strongly disagree with you... I work in a company that does extensive shipping, we also deal with monthly auto ships... believe me, the company that ships packages DOES have a say in what type of shipping it handles. We switched from UPS to FedEx ground, we recently had a visit from our FedEx reps and they offered us the "SMART"post option which indeed would save us some money...But, since I have had extensive bad experiences with the "SMART"post and so has the business owner we declined and chose to stay with the FedEx ground service. We value our auto ship business customers and do not need the added phones calls with aggravated customers, we charge shipping accordingly for ground service. So for Beach Body to charge me $12 for shipping and they use "Smart"post yeah.. I'm waiting for my 10 minute trainer that states it shipped on Sunday 11/25 from Sacramento, per website it is due to arrive in Los Angeles in 6 days.. Not great... Am I happy no..Just something to think about next time I order..

I have had issues as well. I called BB on this and they told me to talk to the post office. For some reason anything I have shipped on home direct they need a signature. This is very inconvenient since I have multiple products on HD and my products arrive on differnt days. Multiple trips to the post office which typically cant be done during the week due to work is annoying and not convenient. I have asked the post office to leave the package, but they state that they cannot because of the way it was shipped. There should be a better way to do this.

Smartpost is faster then you think, Fedex Ground gets it their when it needs to be but USPS delivers it, Its the only reason usps is still in business, so if you want smartpost to go away..thousands of people will lose there jobs at usps. Don't be selfish emoticon the world wants to move to fast, just relax there is no excuse in life to be in a hurry, unless your late for your wedding then you better be haulin ass..but if you really want to get mad then that's your own problem you need to fix...eat bananas they have tryptophan that the body converts into serotonin which makes you feel happier emoticon so i say Thank you fedex for helping usps ppl keep their jobs !
