My Overall Goal: Lose Weight
Success Story
David Lambo Won $1,000 in August 2009
As a former Division II football player, David Lambo played hard and worked out hard, with an emphasis on "strength and power." He was always a big guy with bad eating habits. When his playing days ended, his weight problems began.
"After football ended, my senior year, I still had the horrible eating habits, and my workouts started to slow."
After college, David coached high-school football and tried to keep the pounds off by doing a little cardio, which he hated, and some weightlifting.
"Hitting the weights and going to a gym every day was great at first, but the same thing happened. I didn't have anything pushing me to work out."
This inconsistent workout regimen left him weighing more than he ever had. When David finally paid attention to the image staring back at him in the mirror, he was shocked.
"I remember my jaw dropping. I could not believe that I had gained so much weight. I let my body go so much. I was over 300 pounds—the highest weight of my life."
Familiar with Beachbody® through the infomercials, he started researching products. P90X® caught his attention, but he soon realized he should with something a little less "intense." Power 90® would make a great starting point.
"P90X was my goal, but Power 90 was my base. It still looked fairly difficult, and I knew I needed something to get me going. I liked the idea of not having to pay for a gym membership every month."
David was used to working out from his football-playing days, but he was also used to eating whatever he wanted. That would have to change if he was to get in shape now.
"The nutrition guide was really great. I followed it as closely as possible. I used all the online tools to plan my meals out. I went to the grocery store with the shopping list they provide once you pick your meals. It was absolutely phenomenal."
After moving through Power 90 and the Power 90 Master Series, David moved on to P90X. It's hard, but making it to the "X" was David's goal when he first committed to Beachbody.
"The Muscle Confusion was absolutely wonderful. I loved the variety of the workouts. Not the cardio as much, but I stuck to it and did as much as I could and grew with it."
David now weighs less than 250 pounds for the first time since high school. He has dropped 13 percent of his body fat and 11 inches off his waist. David's transformation continues, but he credits his Beachbody Coach—Aaron Mathis—with inspiring him to get in shape. Aaron's story resonated with David because at one time Aaron weighed more than 300 pounds as well. Now, David is a Beachbody Coach with aspirations of helping others find their fitness success. For all of David's hard work and dedication, he is a $1,000 winner in Beachbody's August Million Dollar Body Game. Way to go, David!
