My Overall Goal: Tone Up
Success Story
Chad Dickinson Won $1,000 in September 2009
For 35-year-old Chad Dickinson, just walking up a flight of stairs made him always feel winded. Now most folks might just start taking the elevator, but Chad works in an air-traffic control tower, so that's not an option.
At more than 267 pounds, his size 40 pants were becoming tight. Then he saw a picture of himself with his shirt off. He was shocked and immediately destroyed the picture.
"When I saw that picture, I thought, 'Who is that guy?' I didn't think it was me. I tore that picture up. I decided that's not me."
But that picture would be Chad's turning point. He started doing a little exercise but needed something that would really push him. Catching the P90X® infomercial, he was intrigued by the testimonials of the real people featured.
"Tony Horton was really, really excited about this program and made it seem like anybody could do it."
When P90X arrived, he took a few days to read through the nutrition guide and plan his meals. Then he was ready for the workouts.
"I really liked the fact that everything was laid out for me. There was no guesswork—everything is laid out for you. You can do this program; it's all right there for you."
Planning the meals was one thing, but finding time to do the workouts was challenging. With a full-time job that included irregular hours and two children under the age of 10, working out was difficult.
"My job was a huge obstacle; with the crazy work hours, it took a lot of me to stay motivated. One of the ways I did that was through the Message Boards. . . . You can join a team, and that team keeps you accountable for your workouts. . . . One of the key components of this program is to stay motivated through use of the Message Boards and through your Coach."
Chad allows himself one cheat day a week when planning his meals, which has helped him stay on track.
"That was a key thing for keeping me in the game and on board with the P90X program. And despite that cheat day, I've had outstanding results—and could never have dreamed that I would have gotten the body that I have now."
Chad has dropped 46 pounds from his frame and an amazing 24 percent of his body fat. He says he has never been in this great of shape—ever!—and credits his Beachbody® Coach, Ryan Dodd, with helping him through the program. After one round of P90X, Chad has added P90X Plus and One on One with Tony Horton to his routine. For all of Chad's hard work and dedication, he is a $1,000 winner in Beachbody's September Million Dollar Body Game®.
