LOST 108 LBS and 11.25" off WAIST in 6 MONTHS of P90X!
I can't believe that I shed 108 lbs . . . This has been a tough and extremely rewarding 6 months for me and this has absolutely become PlifetimeX for me!
What Adam R. won:
Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body? * At the ripe old age of 27, here i am struggling just to literally roll out of bed in the morning! All my life I have struggled with weight, but was always pretty active and could barely get away with eating bad, but being just active enough to not really gain much weight....until things in life change, you forget about your activities for a while and next thing you know you look in the mirror and your by far the biggest you've ever been. It was the most helpless I have ever felt in my life, to know that you need to change, but feel like it's already gotten too far and have the attitude of "i'll take care of myself again, soon" but soon never shows up.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey? * I was tired just getting out of bed, the breaking point was when I finally noticed that anytime I was awake my back hurt, sitting/standing/walking/bending over etc, basically anytime I wasn't sitting or laying on something with good back support, my lower and mid back were aching from just supporting the heft on the front! I knew what I needed to do, but I also realized the Yo-Yo/Crash dieting i'd done in the past wouldn't work and that I needed something to help guide me and keep me on track. I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired all the time, I decided that i'd rather commit however long it takes to get myself back into shape and get my life back, than spend the next how many years of my life just wishing I had!
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge? * The biggest challenge I faced was just committing to the program!!! I have known a couple people who completed P90X and they had told me both that it was absolutely X, extreme, but that it also WORKED!!! So I was very timid about taking it on, I knew I needed to do something extreme to get my life back. Ordered it, and started the day after it showed up, and man o' man was it ever extreme. Day 1 chest and back, for a guy who had let himself get to 264 lbs up from a H.S. weight around 180, just the warm-up had me tired, but I figured if the warm up was making me wear out, then if I could just push through then it will really help to get started. I had to modify pull ups for a LONG time and couldn't do many pushups to start but I just kept moving as much as I could.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose? * I like the fact that is constantly changes, everyday, a different routine makes it easy for me to say "I'm going to do ...... today" instead of doing the same routine, same equipment, etc every single day, it gets way too boring for me to stick to. Everytime I feel like I get a good workout, it keeps me going that tomorrow I will be even better, every day a little lighter and a little stronger than the last. Each time I do a workout I'm seeing improvements, either on reps, weight, time and can always push a little harder than the last!
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of? * I still consider myself a work in progress, for me I need too, but am lightyears ahead of where I imagined I could get to. Completed two rounds of P90X, round 1 dropped from 264 to 204 and felt terrific, my goal for round 2 was to get into the 180-185 range as that would be an improvement on my recent bests in the last many years and would be around high school weight. Proud to say that with Tony's help and the results keeping me motivated, I crushed through that and am in "best shape of my life" territory. I went from being able to do only 4-5 pushups and 1/2 pull-up to start, and now can knock out 50+ pushups and 20+ pull-ups!!! I've never been a "pullup boy" and would have been happy just being able to do half that. With P90X, Beachbody community, and the support of my fiance, I have gone from 264lbs on Day 1 to 156lbs today, the End of my second round of P90X. This has been a tough and extremely rewarding 6 months for me and this has absolutely become PlifetimeX for me!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program? * EVERYTHING has changed, self esteem, my thinking on the life I've gotten back, the clothes, the eating habits, and most importantly to me my overall health is now back in my control. I am now able to excel in my personal hobbies like never before, can keep up with my two energetic dogs that before could only go for walks/runs for a little bit 'til daddy needed a break and they couldn't get much play time since dad was out of breath after a short play session. I can't believe that I shed 108 lbs, and can't believe my body held up to an extra 100+lbs being lugged around everyday. Wish I could personally thank Tony H. for the motivation, the program and giving me something to stick too, and in the early days, constantly showing/telling how to modify, that it's ok if you weren't a PRO at it, to just "do your best and forget the rest". Tony Horton/Beachbody, you helped give me my life back.
How did your Team Beachbody® Coach support you on your journey? Constantly reaching out through email and on the message boards/groups not only supporting me, asking if I needed assistance, and helping not only me, but everybody in the P90Xplorers stay on track.
How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program affect any existing health conditions you have? The progress and goals was great, everytime I felt a little worn out or needed that extra kick in the pants, I got to track and then look back at what I had accomplished thus far, and most importantly what I was working towards.
