In April of 2009 I laid down a two & 1/2 pack of cigarette habit and put on a pair of running shoes. Shortly after I began running I began to lose weight, which makes perfect since, right? Very quickly, the weight loss and healthy trend went down hill. I'm hardly 5 feet tall - I began running at 135 lbs. From April to June I lost around 60 lbs. I had no energy to run and there were no ideas as to what could be wrong but it was clear that running wasn't the reason for the weight loss. By June 15, 2009 I weighed 75 lbs & my body was declared malnutritioned and in the process of starvation.
After a long process with specialists, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune diesase, celiac sprue. In its simplest form when I ingest gluten (which is found in wheat, flour, sauces, soups & most everything that you'd think to be yummy)my body turns on itself and begins the attack.
I have been gluten free (gluten free diet is extremely high calorie & carbs) for over a year and like most celiacs I gained all my weight back. 75% of all celiacs struggle with obesity. I was well on my way to that same struggle. My body had been so depleted of nutrients that anything I ate my body would hold onto the calories for fear of being starved again.
I began working with a trainer, went back to running & going to the gym and couldn't lose the weight. I began Insanity &, PRAISE THE LORD,I have found my weapon against the side effects of Celiac Sprue Disease.
I truly believe that fitness isn't about getting into a smaller bathing suit but has everything to do with beging healthy!\
I welcome the opportunity to help you with your lifestyle changings and/or additions!!!!
