I married right out of high school and had my son at eighteen. I was a small petite 98 pounds when I got pregnant, but by the time I delivered my son I was a whopping 160! True to my family genes my bottom blossomed out and I was plagued with what felt and looked like large sums of cottage cheese under the skin on my thighs and backs of my legs. Although I was busy with a new baby and working towards a college degree, with each passing year not only did my son grow, so did my tummy, my waist and my arms. I tried all kinds of diets, but the only thing I would loose was a little self-esteem. I took a bookkeeping job (which meant sitting most of the day) and while my salary didn’t increase, the size of my body did. And again, that just chipped away at my energy, my drive and most importantly, my self–esteem. Some of the diets would work temporarily, and then I found pills! You know those over-the-counter pills that promise you will lose weight and you don’t have change anything your life? I lost weight all right. I lost it by not eating. So I went from poor nutrition to NO nutrition. The result was a thin body with sagging skin, dull eyes and sallow complexion. I had lost all muscle tone and most of my energy. My hair became brittle, my nerves were shot and I felt ten years older than I was. So I gave up the pills and oh yeah, the weight came creeping back! Now I’m even bigger than I was.
My husband has always been kind and understanding and I felt bad for him too. He missed out on a lot of socializing because I was too embarrassed and too tired to go out with our friends. I hated feeling like I was the “big” one. I hated seeing all the other women in the cute clothes while I sat there in the tent dress. It was just too much to bear.
Then I met Cyndi. She told be about Beach Body and what it had done for her. I had just enough energy and determination to try one more time. The first workout was hard and I wasn’t sure I could continue, but the next morning I actually felt pretty good, so I told myself I would work out one more time. Afterwards I was tired, but energized. I was proud of myself and that gave me incentive. Cyndi got me started on the supplements that Beach Body offers. This gave me a boost in my energy and made me feel better. She explained the Performance formula would help me get the boost to finish my workout and then the Recovery Formula would keep me from crashing after the workouts. By the end of the first week I had lost 8 pounds, and I still had energy at the end of the day.
And so it began……My Transformation.
Now I wake up bright each morning and ready to go. I look forward to my work out and I crave the feeling of satisfaction that comes when I see the body that I have created. I love the way I look in my clothes. And I love the strength and energy I have gained. Once I saw that I not only could reshape my body and lose body fat, I realized that I could really keep that fat from coming back. This was a life style that I could and was willing live with.
My transformation has led to many changes in my life, not just the physical. My outlook on life is different. I have been learning more about nutrition and preparing proper meals, which have spilled over to my family, and that can only be a good thing. I have met some wonderful women who have encouraged me to push myself. They always remind me on the days when I’m feeling down that we’ve already past the hardest part…….living in a fat body.
Now here I am at 40 and this is the first time I’ve ever really seen my true “women’s body”. My muscles are tone, I have lots of strength and I’m full of energy. I have a real waist, a flatter tummy, and leaner thighs. Oh yeah, that blossomy bottom and cottage cheese thighs went from full serving size to a single helping. Now people tell me I look younger than my age. My skin has a healthy glow and there’s a sparkle in my eyes. My hair is soft and healthy and I seem to catch myself smiling all the time. Funny what a bit of self-esteem can do for a girl. Oh…and along with the changes with my body and my attitude I also won $10,000 in October. It was a wonderful feeling but the best thing that came from it was the people writing me and asking me for advice. ME! Wow what a change. Each email made me realize I had made the true transformation. I went from the student to the teacher. What an awesome feeling that was. It was my turn to make a difference. I could help someone because I had been there. So here we go Beach Body…on our way to helping others.
I want to thank everyone at Beach Body for sharing themselves with us through the videos they offer. Chalene, Debbie, Tony, and Shaun T, I could not have done it without you!!!!!
But most of all I want to thank my husband, Brandon. He has been with me for 22 years through all the ups and downs of my struggle to lose weight. He has stood by me and given me the support I needed (and sometimes a shove) when I was ready to give up.
Thanks Everyone !!!!!!!
