Well... I'm not sure I'd call it a story so much as a journey. It all started way back when (hear the ding a ling as we drift off into a dream of the past) yes, there are sound effects to this story so you'll have to use your imagination. Here's how it happened.. I've always been an athlete. I started playing sports in 7th grade. High school was fabulous... I maintained a healthy weight of 180 or so (I'm 6'1) so that was pretty good. Luckily I ate whatever I wanted because I did nothing but work out and play sports.

That's about when I met my husband, Darren. After I graduated high school I swept off with him and we stayed pretty..... active. I had My oldest child Bailey in 2002 when I was 20. I dropped weight pretty fast from nursing and a little less than 2 years later I had Brooke 2004. Again I dropped the pregnancy weight pretty quick and slimmed back down to 180. Again, less than two years I had our third, DJ in June 2006. I gained the most weight with him (55 lbs) and it didn't come off as easy as the other two.

I started a work out routine from home 6 weeks after I had him (that's when I took the "before" pic of me in the brown swimsuit- July 2006) That routine went okay until my elliptical machine BROKE then I was off my fitness wagon.

The truth was (and I knew it just as much then as I do now) that I was NOT successful at dieting and I NEEDED motivation from an outside source. I NEEDED a "coach" (like in high school) to order me around and just tell me what to do. So, I pretty much gave up at that point and accepted the fact that I was meant to be a fat stay at home mom... this was my destiny. But in the back of my mind I would think "this CANNOT be IT. I am NOT happy with myself like this." I always thought of high school as my "Glory Days." When I was fit, in shape, and active! I was settling.

So for the rest of 2007 I pretty much sat around, lazy, ate and GAVE UP. I kinda hit that 'breaking point' in January. Darren's company party was in late January and I needed a dress. I ended up walking into a plus size clothing store thinking... "I do NOT belong in here. This is PATHETIC. You need to do something." Luckily my friends came to the rescue.

So January 2008 some friends and I started a weight challenge. Pitch in money whoever loses 20 lbs first takes the MOOlah. I thought "I'm about to take ALLLLLLLL yalls money!!!" THIS was the motivation I needed.

I joined the local gym with some friends and started out like most people do.. scared of all the machines, avoiding any kind of eye contact, critiquing all the fitness freaks, and walking my steady mile on the treadmill wearing my baggy comfy pants and over sized t-shirt to cover my plethora of rolls and crevices.

One of my friends kept bugging me to try a group class. I considered it.. but shot it down several times before I gained the confidence to try it.

I would watch through the window at the insanity and swore I would NEVER step foot in that friggin house of mirrors!!! EVA!!!!

My friend drug me in by my love handles and soon I became addicted. It was EASY. I could go stand in the very back corner, strategically positioned to where NOBODY could see my jelly roll. I would go on average 4-5 times a week Id say.I found a Turbo Kicboxing class (Turbo Jam!) that kicked my butt and went every chance I got! I didn't diet.. but I did slowly make changes just by consciously making healthier choices (ie. Maybe 1 plate of nachos.. say instead of.. 3) Slowly, the weight came off. I won $150 in the weight loss challenge. And my life slowly began to change.

I slowly moved up in the class to where my nose would touch the front mirror.. sometimes standing closer than the instructor! I started seeing signs in the gym to be an instructor so on a whim I took a chance and went for it and its been the best ride of my life. I started teaching those same classes I was addicted to in December 2008. By that point I was down to 175lbs. My body has transformed like its never been before. Its been crazy!

I started January 10, 2008 at 215. April 20, 2008 I was down 20 lbs. By July I had dropped another 10lbs. In December 2008, when I became an instructor, I was down to 175. (My original goal when I started was to eventually be back to 180.) I've been teaching since December 2008 and I currently hold my weight around 165!!!

I work out a lot, its true. But everybody is different. I can help you figure out the BEST program for YOU to lose weight (the healthy way) and KEEP it off for good.
