I have a beautiful wife of 13 years and 2 kids - ages 6 and 3 who are the lights of my life. They inspire me and make me want to do more and more. I knew I needed to be healthy for them as well as myself.
I spent 4 years in the Army and 2 in the Reserves as an NCO. That was the true beginning of my real life. Everything before that was just practice.
Currently I'm a web programmer/database admin so my job certainly doesn't allow for a lot of movement.
P90X changed my life. Meeting Tony in person was truly meeting one of my heroes.

I was always active as a child. I played soccer, baseball, wrestling competitively. And then came the fateful year I turned 10. I started to learn how not to eat, and boy was I an 'A' student. Entire bags of Doritos in one sitting. 2 or 3 Big Gulps per day. By the time I hit college, I was a mess.
In college I was introduced to weight lifting. A brief stint of that caused some development and some weight loss. However, my mentor bombed out of college and shortly after, so did my enthusiasm.
After a few years of drifting through life and struggling with weight on a daily basis, I decided to take control of my life and join the Army. I learned more about physical fitness but with the forced nature of it, I didn't want to do it in my free time. I still retained some bad eating habits and so still struggled. Near the end of that time I went through some intense physical therapy for a blown ACL and 2 torn rotator cuffs and managed to lose a lot of weight, but again without the knowledge of how to live, it came back in force.
After the Army, life came full blast and now I didn't have the forced physical training in the morning. A true recipe for disaster.
A sedentary IT job, going back to school to complete my degree and the weight was definitely showing. A better IT job, and then first one and then a second and free time became a premium. I then went for my Master's Degree and put in many late nights full of junk food and soda to keep me awake the only way I knew how since I had to do the majority of work after the kids were asleep.
Now at thirty nine years old I saw myself in a full length mirror at a hotel on conference and was disgusted by what I saw. I told my wife and she bought me P90X for Christmas that year.
P90X sat on a shelf for months. Then just after my 40th birthday I made my final decision. I could get up early and do this. So on June 1st of 2008 I got up at 4:45am and started my workout.
Transformation still didn't come easy, but it did come. The weight started to disappear and I felt better and better about myself and about life. My ACL reconstruction felt better as did my rotators. They weren't (and still aren't) 100% but they were tollerable now.
By Christmas I was down 25 pounds and feeling great because I HAD to buy new clothes. In the spring of 2009 I coached my son's soccer team and had a blast. In the summer of 2009, after a year, I was down 30 pounds and life was awesome.
In September 2009, a friend 5 years younger than I had a heart attack. That made me pour even more into my workouts.
In the fall of 2009, I got to meet Tony Horton at one of his fitness camps and was able to thank him in person. My wife and children inspire me to work out to be there for them. Tony and Beachbody gave me the tools to succeed.
