Hey guys, it's been a while but here's what I've been up to recently
2011 was a year of re-commitment to resistance for me.
I finished 2010 with a round of Insanity and all the craziness that that entails. I felt great and my cardio was fantastic!
I decided to change things up in February by doing yet another round of P90x! I started out a bit uneven, in my first Chest and Back I overdid it tried to max out some pullups and hurt my elbow! Luckily thanks to my conditioning and overall commitment I was able to work through the round anyway believe it or not, near the end of the 3 months working in some 30-15 workouts, the most brutal pushup pullup Tony 1-1 there is IMO. The Vol 3 preview of P90x2 workouts gave me a great taste of what was to come in P90x2 and I continued to work those in usually 1-2 times a week with other P90x Insanity and 1-1s thrown in
In April and May I prepped for a ShaunT workout at Gillette and that was a fantastic day of exercise and getting together with some great folks down there. We even got a visit and workout with the Patriots cheerleaders - they use Insanity to get in shape in their offseason!
I continued doing some Tony workouts and heavier weights throughout the summer, staying consistent the whole time. Slowly the elbow got better although it never went away. I think the lesson is, you can and should still work through injuries if you can, but paying attention to your body all the while. It's going to be something I have to be aware of and ensure I warm up correctly, I'm not a spring chicken anymore!
In fall, September brought another round of P90x+ - my fourth at last count, to prep for P90x2 arrival some time around Christmas. That has always been a superb way to increase my fitness and lean out by doing hard resistance-based metabolic conditioning. It worked, yet again and my numbers for pretty much everything are way back up. This is an underrated program IMO really hard and results are great!
I had my 47th birthday on Thanksgiving and feel great! I added some muscle this year and my upper body strength goals I started the year with have come to fruition!
I got my copy of P90x2 in early December including bonus stuff and can't wait to start that one in Jan 2012!
