Fall focus

Oh my gosh, it's been so many months since I updated this blog!  How does that happen?  Time goes so fast!!   Makes me realize how important it is to have goals and to be focused because otherwise time gets away and we are in the same spot.  That applies to our health and fitness as well to our business and personal goals.  Now is the time to set goals and make "to do" lists to ensure that those goals are met.  I'm realizing also how important it is to believe that we can have our goals, have our dreams, and to visualize them actually happening and then feel the gratitude for them.  That opens up and creates and attitude of belief and thanksfulness which helps to create the dreams that we want.  Anything is possible if we believe it can happen and do the work to achieve it.  We can't sit idle and hope that it will happen.  We have to make it happen!  It gets hard sometimes because life gets in the way, we get ridiculed for being too focused and "driven", things come up that take our attention and energy.   But it all comes down to stating those goals, writing them out in the present tense as if I already have achieved that goal, doing the day by day steps to get there and to receive and be grateful that we have achieved what we want.  Over and over I must remind myself of why I want these goals, why I am willing to do what it takes, remind myself of the payoff.  I want to be a full time Beachbody coach, I want to help people daily to reach their dreams, to be healthier to be and do what they have always dreamed!  I want the freedom to do that and do it well without the time and energy demands of my other job.  And I know that will happen.  I am grateful that it is unfolding and that the opportunity to step into that role is available.  I keep focused on that and believe it is in my future!  You can reach your goals too, anything you want, as long as you believe it, focus on it, do the work and then express your gratitude.  Having said that, I'm going to head downstairs for a great TurboFire workout with Chalene and the gang.  Here's to a successful Fall!

Personal Best

As I visit with people about goals and dreams, there seems to be 2 separate camps.  There are the people that say, "push hard, set goals, sacrifice idle time, be fanatic and get what you want!"  Then there are those that say, "Don't be obsessive, you're a workaholic, just chill, you should relax more etc."  I realize life should be balanced and that yes, there needs to be time for relaxation, famiy, friends and meditation.  But I also know that I have a dream and that dream is freedom, financial and time.  I work hard in my job as a self employed RN and it's demanding.  There's not a lot of down time because I AM my business.  So I have a dream to step beyond that, to be a full time Beachbody coach, but that will take persistance and fortitude and yes, maybe some fanaticism.  With hard work, I'll reach my dream and then I'll have financial freedom and the flexibility to take off when I want.  I block out the negative comments and focus on my goal (which I have written out, by the way).

The same goes with fitness.  You may have a goal and you're focused and working hard, sacrificing the fast food and couch in the evening.  Your friends may say, "Indulge with us, it won't matter, you can work hard tomorrow."  Or they may make you feel guilty for taking time to yourself to get your workout in.  That's why it is very important to know your dreams and goals.  There will be naysayers that try to talk you out of it but only you know your dreams and what they mean to you.  I am confident that I will have the freedom in a few years to have more balance, more down time, less stress.  But for now, I am making use of every minute, I am working on developing my Beachbody business, I am pushing myself beyond my comfort level because I have a dream!  I am making time for my workouts, pushing harder than is comfortable sometimes because I love being fit.  I will take the extra time to make sure I have healthy food at home and that I fix it so it's available when I'm at work.  And I will take time to meditate, to be clear on my goals and to shut out the outside world, just for a while, so that I know who I am.

People can talk and shake their heads because they have different goals than I do.  That's OK.  They can think I'm too focused or too extreme and missing out on the "good things" in life.    What I call the good things----good health, freedom to do what I want and like, energy and peace---are in my sights.  I'm working for the good things and I'll achieve those things; just watch.

Summit 2010

I spent the weekend in LA at the Beachbody coach summit hanging out with other Beachbody coaches and fitness lovers.  It's so refreshing to be with like minded people who see value in making healthy lifestyle choices.  Of course, the high point was working out with the trainers.  The first night we had a group workout (group as in hundreds of people) where each trainer did about 15 minutes of their best stuff.  So Debbie Siebers, Chalene Johnson, Brett Hoebel, Leonardo, Tony Horton and Shaun T all put us through the drill.  We were shoulder to shoulder and face to foot.  Literally, when we had to drop to do pushups or level one drills, someone else's shoes were in my face!  Tony did a combo of plyo and chest.  We'd jump and squat and then drop for pushups; of course we had to add a leg lift and arm extention during those pushups! But the energy was wild and the adrenalin was flowing!  I honestly didn't think I could squat any deeper and, when working out at home and experiencing that fatigue and burn, I would let up.  BUT here, with Tony or Shaun walking past me saying, "You can go deeper", you better believe I made a point to go deeper!  The next morning, less than 15 hours later, I was working out with Shaun T for an hour.  It was a new Insanity and sweat was flying.  I was surprised that it didn't seem weird to be working out with Shaun T literally in the room.   Maybe that was because I work out with him every day, virtually with him in the room.  I will say the very best part  was, after taking our picture, he said, "by the way, good job in there."  WOW, a personal encouragement from Shaun T himself.  I'll keep digging deeper!

I think the most inspiring part of the weekend was feeling a part of a company that cares about it's members, a company that feels like a family and one that truly wants each one of us to be successful, financially and physically.  The trainers weren't off by themselves, but among us as peers.  Everyone is an equal, trainers, corporate, big coaches and new coaches.  It did feel like a family and the honesty and humility among the members was inspiring.  I left feeling lucky and wildly excited to be a part of such a great company where the sky is the limit in business and fitness!

Persistence

Beachbody's message of the month is Persistence.  One thing I love about being a Beachbody coach is the support and motivation and personal growth that is encouraged and fostered which affects so many areas of my life.

Persistence is so important in the fitness arena because it is so counter cultural.  There is always something trying to take my time or energy which makes it harder to stay focused but I do!  I persist because fitness is a priority.  Doesn't mean it's always easy but I keep my goal in mind and strive forward.

It's no different in my professional life.  Something is always getting in the way which prevents me from doing everything I need to do, but I persist because I have a goal.  I don't let little failures set me back.  I persist with my Beachbody business because I have a goal to work ONLY in the fitness area and I know that will take ongoing growth.  I persist because I want the freedom to take time off when I want to and I will be able to do that as a full time Beachbody coach.  I am self employed and it's so difficult to take time off.  I AM my business now and when I'm gone, my business shuts down.  So I have a goal to grow my Beachbody coaching business and I'm willing to sacrifice time and energy NOW so that I can reach that goal.  I work on it every spare minute, helping my team grow and helping myself grow.

Persistence is important in my personal growth as well because, as before, something else it always pulling at me.  I have been taking a few minutes to read a good book every day, one that helps me grow as a person.  I have been taking time to meditate almost every day.   This keeps me focused and my intentions clear.

I will reach my goals.  I will be persistent!
