I sometimes come across as an arrogant asshole who gloats about his newly found "fitness" lifestyle. Let me just say I am having such a hard time with the fact that people are noticing me with weight loss. It's is a great feeling and I am so excited to see what tomorrow's pants look like on this kids butt, but I am more excited to feel even more amazing.
Today on Facebook and his own personal Blog, Tony Horton talked about how this is NOT for looks. Fitness is for how you feel, not how you look.
Excerpt from what he wrote.
"My mantra is based in the belief that if you exercise today you get fitter today. If you exercise and eat whole foods today, your health improves today. If you exercise today the quality of your lives improves today because the area inside the temporal lobe of the brain releases proteins and chemicals that make you happy, confident and productive. And last but not least is the effect of exercise on your bodies ability to fight disease and injuries. All these amazing things will (not might) occur the same day you choose to exercise...Weight lose thru diets, diet pills, starving yourself before events like weddings and reunions, living and dying for the numbers on your scale all reflect the vicious cycle created by the look-at-me world we live in."
My own response to this (which I have posted today)
Doing this for vanity? Hell no. Pre "Fit Dan" was lack of confidence at work, home and play. Couldn't do anything but be a XXL t-shirt-wearing pig, eating bar-food 4 nights a week. Present day "Fit Dan" (thanks to the X) I climb rocks, run races, eat like a caveman, crab-walk for the fun of it and love to jump over big puddles with my fit wife. I wear clothes smaller ... Read More than when I was in HS and have never been happier or touched by the many people I've effected trying to get off the couch and sweat.
Please people. I am not gloating, I am merely saying "come with me."
Honestly. All I am doing is saying, "Look what I've discovered. Follow me. I will guide you and help you make better a better you." I am not a prophet, but I am your friend.
