Back on Track

It seems that "back on the horse," or "back on track" are familiar statements these days.  Yes, it's hard to stay on track every day of the week, months and years, that's what is so great about being able to get back to where you were, or continue something you started.  I'm like anybody else.  I'm on it, off it and back at it.  That's just how it works.  Welcome to normal fitness routines.

I feel great

I've been off track for a couple of weeks as I didn't feel well.  Couldn't put my finger on it, but felt like I could't get a breath of fresh air.  Feeling much better now and I started another fitness program yesterday.  Swimming.  My Dr. said she wants me to swim at least 3 or 4 times a week and do some cardio along with it.  My sugars have been great.  Down low but I have been really careful with what I eat and how much.  Things are good when you're careful.  It's being careful that's the toughest part.

Saturday March 31st

In a few hours it will be April 1, 2012, more than 1/3 of the year is already gone.  Imagine that!  So folks, we've got 9 more months to accomplish what we promised ourselves on January 1 we would do to get fit and healthy.  Yay - 9 months.  A lot can be accomplished in 9 months.  A baby can be created and born, and we can get fit.  I would like to think we can do it together.  I invite you to join me for just 30 days and see what we can accomplish.  Write down your starting weight, and resting pulse.  On May 1st, do the weight thing and pulse again and email me and let me know how everything worked out for you.  I will do the same.  Let's go folks.  Let's get healthy and have some fun at the same time.

OK Folks - It's Time To Get Busy "Again"

Have you ever been so gung ho about something that you start off with the highest determination to make it work, be solid in your commitment, tell your friends how terrific your new venture is or write down your progress every day watching your success continue to build?  I thought so, especially in the health department.  I was that person.  In 2008 I spent a week with my son eating all the right kinds of foods, supplements and meal replacements.  I even was regularly exercising in the hotel gym, with my son.  We were a team effort, not just because we are related, but because we were working toward a health goal that we both would feel we had accomplished some levels together.  When I got back home, I was still in first gear, visiting WOWY on a regular basis, eating the right foods and watching my cholesterol and glucose come steadily down.  I am like any other addict, I fell off the wagon, but I had done that before I started this new regime so I knew I could right back on track, and I did for a while, then the yo yo pattern started to kick in and I was in trouble.  I have friends with Beachbody that encouraged me every day and after repeated support from people I admire for their steadfast ability to adhere to a program.  I now know what determination is and how important support people can be.  If you try to do it alone, more often than not, you can fail.  People need other people to lean on, share with and be accountable to.  I've tried it by myself, on my own, telling myself that I don't need anyone, except myself to motivate me.  Where have I been?  That is so false.  Everyone needs someone and thankfully I have all of you guys I can write to, contact via email or by my cell phone.  Everyone is just an email or cell phone away.  How easy is that?  What I've found out is that if I don't write down everything I plan on doing, every day, what I'm going to eat, every day, I am losing the best part of me and those who depend on me to stay healthy - my family and my Coach.  I am also a Coach and trust me, I can coach everybody else and still need a kick in the butt from others.  Today is March 17, St. Patrick's Day.  With all the four leaf clovers out there, surely one is meant for you and for me.  Let's work together and let each other know how we're doing.  Hey, I'll meet you in WOWY every day at 7pm.  See you there.

Working Out With My Coach

Hey guys, there's nothing like working out with your Coach and Tony Horton at the same time.  Not all of us have that privilege, but here's one way it can happen for you.  Have you been reading about Beachbody's "Fit Clubs" all over the U.S.?  Google it and you will find out where they are and if there isn't one in your particular town - start one!

Monday, Wednesday and Friday I work out in Nolensville with my Coach Jason and other members of Beachbody who want to adhere to their "accountability."  We are working with P90X - not for "whiners," and I can't do all the steps, but I show up and I try.  I can do 20 minutes of the 40 minute workout, but still can't do some of the moves.  I keep moving though and my A1c numbers are normal, after just two months of routines and pushing play.  If you're reading this, and you live in Nashville or surrounding areas, please join us Monday, Wed, or Friday at 12:00 noon, or Tuesday nights at 7:30pm.  We're at Yoga and Arts building, right behind Martin's Bar-B-Q on Nolensville Road.  There are some Saturday classes too, but not sure of the times.  I'll post them later.  Remember folks, this is all FREE and you get to work out with Scheffy too.
