Hello everyone. Have you tried workouts like P90X or Insanity and stuck with them for a week or so and then finding that you are just "too busy" to keep up with the workouts. Or maybe you tried them and decided that working out is just too hard and you lack the motivation to stay with it. As I was thinking about this in my own life, I figured that I am most likely not the only person who has experienced these same issues. I have come up with a few tips that may help a few of you out there stick to your goals in 2011 and create a new you!
The first thing you need to do is change your mindset. Everything we do in life is for one of two things, to obtain pleasure or to avoid pain. A lot of people have linked more pain than pleasure to working out. You must link pleasure to working out by focusing on the goals of how you want to look and feel. A great first book to read for 2011 would be Awaken the Giant Within by Anthony Robbins. He discusses the above thoughts in detail and teaches how to effectively change your mindset to accomplish your goals.
The second thing you need to do is if you are working out on a program such as P90X or Insanity and not sticking with it is get a different program. If you are not sticking with these programs it could be because they are too difficult at your current fitness level. Instead of doing P90X, go back and get Power 90 and work on it for 90 days. If you've been unable to stick with Insanity, go back and get Hip Hop Abs and do it first. Once you have completed those programs, then go back and do P90X or Insanity. The workout needs to be challenging but not so much that you do not look forward to working out. Once you have completed Power 90 and Hip Hop Abs, you will have created the habit of working out and your body will be ready for the demands of P90X and Insanity. In 6 months you will be amazed at how far you have gone!!
