It's hard to believe that it has been nearly 8 years since I joined the Beachbody community. At that time, Beachbody was a small and relatively little known company. Tony Horton and Debbie Siebers were the only trainers, and Slim in 6, P90, and Great Bodies Guaranteed (and maybe Tony & the Kids and Tony's first yoga video) were the only video offerings. There were no training camps, no prizes, no coaches or opportunities to make Beachbody a career. In actuality, Beachbody is one of the only things I ever got in early on, and because of the limitations of my professional career, I chose not to sign up as a coach at the beginning, although had I done so, I know that I would be sitting pretty right now!
Throughout the years, Beachbody and its programs have been part of my life in varying ways. Sometimes following a program religiously, and other times drifting away to other pursuits such as training for marathons or triathlons (or occasionally, doing nothing). But no matter how or why or where I stray, I always come back home. Why? Because it is a safe home, where I know a lot of people, where I know the trainers produce incredible programs that produce incredible results, and where I trust they everything that is offered is top quality. Even the skincare line that I am now using and loving!
Over the years I have brought many loved ones into the Beachbody family, including my current boyfriend, who is joining me on my current X journey. I even learned that my ex-husband (yes, Beachbody was there almost at the beginning of my marriage and at the end) ordered and did a round of P90X several years after our divorce. I guess I rubbed off on him more than I knew at the time!
So now that I have found myself a little less firm and a few pounds heavier than I'd like, I'm back home to do another round of P90X beginning on Monday (Happy Halloween!), to prepare for the upcoming release of P90X2 (you bet I pre-ordered). It's funny to think back on the original release of P90X, which I was lucky enough to be a part of and I have my old version workout guide autographed by Tony Horton to prove it! I'm going Lean this time around and having to switch up the order of the workouts a bit to accommodate my schedule, but I am intent on Pushing Play every day, on sticking to a healthy eating plan, on drinking my Shakeology, and on being thankful every moment that my very first secretary told me about Slim in 6 when I was complaining about gaining a few pounds in my very first job out of law school. It is amazing how life can change so completely and yet how some things - like Beachbody - remain the same.
Thank you, Beachbody, for nearly a decade of health, happiness, and skinny jeans :)
