Thank You Teacher Can I Have Another! 2nd Round Anyone!?

I have been a little MIA lately, at least from the WOWY Supergym, but I have still stayed on top of my workouts.  Just in case you have been wondering if I finished P90X or fell off the wagon, like many newbies do, I haven't!! I am happy to report that I did not throw in the towel. I finished what I started, 90 days AND then....I started AGAIN!!! HA!! Round 2 baby!! BRINGIN IT!!

I am totally amazed by how addicted I am to this program. A workout that I never thought I would ever be able to do. But here I am. What I am doing is Round 2 of TurboFire for my cardio and 3 days a week of P90X for my resistance training. The combination is awesome and I'm loving my results!! I still may not be able to do totally unassisted pull-ups, but I can do MORE than I could before. In fact, I can do MORE of just about everything, like decline push-ups, dive bombers and one handed push-ups!!! Yes, I said ONE handed!! I know right;)  O.K. I can do a few, slow, BUT, I couldn't do any before. I have also been able to increase my weight on many exercises and I can't believe what I am able to lift now. It's crazy!! I am hooked!!

I honestly don't get these people that tell me they can't do it, don't have time, don't get results, blah blah blah blah.. If you aren't geting results, you are doing something wrong!! I don't even follow the meal plan and I am blown away! Yes, Tony's workouts are long, they are typically an hr. and if you pause a lot, it does take time to get thru, but you spend the same time, if not more at the gym, so I don't get it.  You either want it and make it a priority or you don't!!

I have been able to lean out a lot. I have actually gained weight, but dropped a clothing size, which tells me I am putting muscle in and the muscle burns up the fat!! I am super stoked for the summer!! I can't even tell you how good it feels to be able to wear clothes, styles, etc. that you couldn't before!! Not to mention I am going to meet my mentor Chalene Johnson in 2 months and I get to wear a completely fabulous, red hot size 8 dress:)

Week 2 P90X

Today is actually day 9 on my schedule and I will be bringing it with Plyometrics. I just wanted to give you an update on the last few days as my kids have been home on snow vacation and it hasn't been easy to write everday.  In fact, now that I am past week 1 I will probably start updating only once a week or unless I have something worth mentioning.

Anyway, despite my 3 kids being home with me this past week, I still kept my commitment to my workouts. My first time doing Kenpo X was a lot of fun.  I've been asked how it compares to Turbo and all I can really say is that it's not Turbo.  It does have punches and kicks like Turbo, but the workout is more of a martial arts based format.  Turbo is like kick boxing and dance that is done to music. Kenpo X reminds me of being in karate class like when I was a kid.  Tony is the sensei and you are the student.  The technique (punches, kicks and/or blocks) is demonstrated and then practiced and so on, but it is fast paced so you really burn a lot of calories.  Next time I am going to add my weighted gloves for an extra burn!

The following day was a rest day, but I chose to do TurboFire Fire55EZ class because sometimes rest days are bad news for me and I can get off track easily.

I officially began week 2 yesterday, with the hardest workout Chest & Back.  Extreme push-ups and pull-ups.  Better to eat that frog at the beginning of the week anyway.  Get it done and out of the way.  Since complaining last week about how I didn't feel it, I decided this week to opt out of using the bands all together for pull-ups.  I did assisted pull-ups all the way thru and used my dumbbells as push-up stands for push-ups to increase my range of motion and decrease the stress on my wrists.  It took me almost 2hrs to get thru it, but I did it and boy, I AM feeling it today in my chest and back!! YAY!!

I still suck at decline and dive bomber push-ups. I can only do about 6 each! I hope I get better at these because they make me mad!!

Day 5 and Still Alive!

Legs and Back nuff said!! Both are screaming at me today! It WORKS the back, the quads, calves, hams, and glutes well! So well, in fact, that it hurts to sit down, stand up, walk, climb stairs and stay still. It should be called Legs, Back & Butt or Butt Ripper X!! I am really feeling the Wall Squats, Super Skaters, Sneaky Lunges, Toe Roll Iso Lunges, Groucho Walk and 80-20 Sieber's Speed Squats. Lucky for us Tony is a funny guy and keeps it entertaining.

Back execises were a wide variety of pull-ups including reverse grip, close grip, wide and switch-grip.  This time I doubled up on the bands, using the 15 and 30lb bands together, when I couldn't do anymore assisted pull-ups. A lot of people tell me that they can't raise their arms up after this workout.  This is still not happening for me yet, so I can't help but wonder if I am doing something wrong here.

My abs are on FIYAH  after doing Ab Ripper X for the 3rd time in less than a week. Tony's trying to kill me!! Today is Kenpo X. Should I be scared??

P.S. I am looking for a P90X/TurboFire Hybrid schedule. Who's got one??

Namaste!

Day 4 I completed 98 minutes of Yoga X! Well, kinda. I made it through the first 45 minutes up to Warrior 3 pose, which really challenges your balance, then it became advanced. If you are into Yoga you would probably really like this, however, I am just not one of those people at the moment anyway. I do understand there are many benefits of doing it and so I will work on it, but I am not sure I will be keeping it on my schedule for good.  It is a mind body experience that my mind just couldn't grasp. You really need to be in a calm environment and be able to concentrate on your breathing. You need to be open minded to doing something different.  You must be one with your chi!!

Tony says Yoga is the fountain of youth and maybe he is right since he is 54yrs young and doing these crazy moves that my 31yr old body can't hang with. LOL

3 down 87 to go!!!

On day 3 I completed P90X Shoulders & Arms with Ab Ripper X and all I have to say is WOW!! I LUV, LUV, LUV this workout!! So far it is my most fav. I want more and more. Didn't really know what to expect except sheer agony, but yet I was wrong again.

If you love lifting weights or want to start, then this is your workout. I have been waiting for something like this for a while. Since I've been doing ChaLEAN Extreme for a year straight, I've been dying for some new strength training exercises.  Boy did it deliver!! This is just what I needed. In my opinion this workout is money!! LUV IT!!

Shoulders & Arms is all about the vanity muscles says Tony.  Primarily, it works the shoulders, the biceps and the triceps.  I prefer to use weights, but you can certainly use the bands which are also demonstrated throughout the workout.  I love that I can use my Select Techs, but if you have them be careful, as I admit to having smashed myself in the face with them a few times since they are a bit bulkier then your average dumbbells. Oops!

The exercises are AWESOME! Not too complicated yet still challenging. There is quite a variety as well including shoulder presses, bicep curls, tricep extensions, chair dips, upright rows and flys.  My favorites are Deep Swimmer Presses/similar to an Arnold press, Focused Supination Concentration Curls, Crouching Cohen Curls, Congdon Curls and Side-Tri.-Rises.

The highlight of my day was being able to do 2 sets of side-tri-Rises 12 reps each on both sides. Also, being able to complete Ab Ripper X all the way through without rest. I pushed through the burning in my hip flexors and just focused on breathing. Stop holding your breath!! The V-ups and Scissors are no joke! Definately feeling the abs today! The Mason Twist is pretty fun. Each time I do this routine I'm going to get faster and faster at it:)

Today is Day 4 and I have Yoga X. Is it really 98 minutes?  Looking forward to stretching, but I might do some Turbo first since I miss it and I'm use to more cardio.
