Bringin It 2012

New year, new goals, and many new friends to be made and lives to be changed.  My first challenge group of the year will kick off soon and I am excited for everyone participating.  P90X2 has been GREAT for my reoccurring injuries that I got mid to late last year which kept me from really pushing hard on my workouts.  I hurt my back again and have had calf trouble but the foam rolling and X2 Core is making my back pains go away (along with regular chiro visits).

I am excited!

The Beachbody Summit 2011 dust has settled....

Its been more than a week since I last arrived in LA for Coach Summit this year and the fire is still lit in me.  I have been so busy this past week.  There is so much information to process and to put into action.  On top of that, there are SO many new relationships and connections that I have made that its INSANE.

I was fortunate enough to meet CEO Carl Diakeler and President Jon Congden and get photos with them.  I also met and got a snapshot with Tony Horton, the P90X Master himself as well as Brett Hoebel who is known for being on the Biggest Loser and for his workout video RevAbs.  These are great people and just by getting to know them a little in person and listening to them on stage, I know down to the deepest levels that this company is the right place to be today.

While those guys are great, I am really honored to have spent some time speaking with Milan Jensen, Traci Morrow and Doug Fitzgerald from our leadership.  This guy and two ladies are the essence of hard work and dedication to helping others achieve all of their goals.  They radiate such a positive energy that makes them the kind of people you want to work hard FOR as well as work hard to earn the priviledge to get to know them more.  I hope I get to meet and work with more of our leadership while I learn to emulate them so that I can have as much impact as them.

Finally, to my friends of "Team Stairs"... all of you are jewels.  I hope we get to spend a lot more time together in the future and that we keep each other motivated through this journey.

I love all of you guys for the people you are and for the people you will become.

P90X lead me to the path of Insanity!

Well my P90X program is done.  I am officially a graduate who has lost 20lbs total and have become 20 inches smaller mostly in the waist and hips area. I will have pictures soon!

Today is day 1 of Insanity with my virtual workout group consisting of my friends and coaches.  I am ready to go!  I have a full tub of Results and Recovery Formula and a brand new pair of Vibram TrekSport Fivefinger workout shoes that I wore every day/all day since last Thursday when I got them just so I could break them in and get my feet used to them.  I will do the fit test today as well as the P90X fit test to record my final progress.

Also something worth mentioning is my experience this past weekend with the family over the Christmas holiday.  I had my pullup bar with me and had it in one of the doorways and started demonstrating how easily it is used.  I ended up having everyone try it out, even my kids' grandmother, who I allowed the assistance of using my knee to help her do pullups.  All of my nephews who are high school atheletes wanted to try and each did a couple pullups.  I then challenged them to CORN COB pullups.  Now this isn't a story about how they older guy out did the young bucks, even though I did. *grin*  This is a story about how the older guy (I am only 33) demonstrated with EASE, how to do one of these pullups.  90 days ago, I didn't even try to do one with the assistance of a chair and there I was, showing them over and over again how to do it.  It was awesome!

And yes, I TOTALLY kicked their butts at pullups!

Turning the downward spiral inside out!

Here is one of my favorite quotes:

You have to ACT your way into feeling better because you NEVER FEEL your way into ACTING better.

I am just as guilty in this as the rest of us.  I have spent many days waiting for the big break to come to me or for me to get out of 'that funk' so I can go an do something that is positive.

We have all been there... at least most of us.  I am sure its safe to make that claim.  We just are in a 'sinking spell' as my grandmother would call it.  And during these spells, we tend to just let it happen and hope that when we finally go to sleep and wake up the next day, it will just disappear.  What we don't realize, is that our choice of inaction, we are simply enabling the spell the right of existence.  We are actually FEEDING the spell, changing its diaper, bathing it, dressing it up and sending it on its way to college to let it get bigger and smarter.

Sure, sometimes when you are exhausted, you can feel depressed and be in a spell thats similar to what I am talking about and when you do to go sleep and wake up, you do feel better.  We all get those to.  But those aren't the ones that I am talking about.

When one of these depressions or sinking spells come on, that is when we should force ourselves to get up and DO something about it.  This is why, in my experience at least, the more active people tend to not have these types of issues.  They are busy DOING something.  Its in the DOING that churns the engine in our bodies that feed our brains that then reacts to what its being fed.

What happens when we move?  Our heart beats a little faster.  We burn more calories.  Our body tells us its hungry for something in particular (if we listen) that it needs so we eat it.  This feeds our system.  Our bodies are PROGRAMMED TO PROSPER.  By willing our bodies to move, the system starts to work.  Our body then rewards our brains with what it needs to feel good.  This affects our mental states. So by DOING, we ALLOW our minds to move towards the positive there for we are ACTING OUR WAY INTO FEELING BETTER.

When ever you are feeling in a funk, don't listen to that sob story voice in your head.  Take charge and move your body.  Go for a quick run, even if its just a brisk walk around the block.  Eat something healthy.  Flavor it up to taste great! I like cooking fish in a hot plate on olive oil with fajita seasoning... its totally delish!

I love being a Beachbody Coach because what I do is encourage everyone to act their way into feeling better and staying that way!  What a privilege!

Why a Beachbody business?

I finally realized that in order for me to get in shape, stay in shape and make sure I am around for those I love as long as possible and with no burden to them, that I was going to have to make some big changes in my life.

I needed constant motivation, programs and nutrition that worked, accountability and the capability to stay focused on my goals.

Beachbody gives me all of this plus an added bonus that my good friend Christiana from high school was already a Coach and I was very happy to join her business!

Motivation - Once you become a customer or coach, Beachbody engulfs you in success stories, positive people, personal development and challenges that make me want to keep pushing.  Once anyone decides to push play every day, do their best and forget the rest, the results will come and every morning you wake up and look in the mirror, you get instantly motivated.

Programs and Nutrition - ANY of the Beachbody programs will work if you just follow them as closely as you can.  Being fit and lean isn't rocket science or some big secret.  You have to work out, work hard, constantly change up your routines and you MUST fuel your body correctly. SHAKEOLOGY has been the key for my nutritional needs!

Accountability - If I am to be successful at this Beachbody business, I have to live and breathe my products and services.  If I had stayed at 20% body fat, chosen not to drink Shakeology and tried to tell people they should eat right and exercise, would they listen?  This gives me that push I need being the flawed person that I am.  Also, my fellow coaches keep me accountable to my goals through communication.

Staying Focused - Far too often I would let life's activities get in my way of taking care of myself.  If I successfully work this business to where I no longer need to have a full time job, it will afford me the luxury of having one less distraction to get in my way.  My short term dream is to be able to really work as a full time coach.  If this business keeps me busy, then by default I will be fitter and healthier.

I strongly urge anyone who is looking for a change in their life to take a good hard look at what Beachbody has to offer.  No matter how you go about it, somehow you will better yourself.   You will get in the best shape of your life and then by default you will end up helping others repeat what you did and some where along the way you become a better person.  Or it will happen the opposite way.  You will focus on the personal development to help you ignite your business and then by default you will find your health and fitness soar to new heights.

There are 200+ million people in the US alone that NEED what Beachbody has.  Sure there are always the 'Globo Gyms' of the world, personal trainers and miracle diet plans.  There is nothing wrong with any of those save some of the diet plans but some people need personal trainers.  Others don't like the idea.  That is okay.  I applaud all the PTs out there for getting it done.  For the rest of the people who don't like the idea of crowded gyms and want to take on their fitness at home, then Beachbody is here for them.  I can also guarantee that you will not find another nutritional supplement like Shakeology.

Contact me for details about the workouts, the nutrition and even about the Beachbody opportunity.  Lets work together to fight the trend of obesity in our nation that some experts say will be the reason why the baby boomers will be the first generation to ever outlive their children.

Peace!
