That was some SERIOUS leg work!
I had forgotten how much work Plyo is. In the past 6 months or so, I had been mixing in INSANITY on my cardio days, so It's been a while since I had jumped like that. But JUMP! I did, and I loved every second of it.
As I was in the middle of soaking my basement carpet with buckets of sweat, it came to me that what separates success from failure in home-based workouts comes down to just one thing...
DISCIPLINE
As a Fitness Coach, I can tell you everything you need to do in order to be completely successful with your workout program... all the equipment you need, the space you need to work out in, the time of day that's best to work out (morning btw)... EVERYTHING.
And on your fitness journey, you can have everything at your disposal to create the environment you need to be successful. You can spend hundreds of dollars, from the dvds to the equipment and workout gear. But the one thing you need that costs you NOTHING?
DISCIPLINE
About halfway thru Plyo I realized that I could turn it off, walk away defeated and beat down, and tell everyone I did in fact finish the entire thing. Any person that uses these programs could do the same... when it gets too hard, just turn it off and walk away.
But when you get to the point in your journey where it's not a chore... where it's a CHALLENGE...? THAT is where you've turned it into ROUTINE.
If you're working on a new program, don't get discouraged if you can't do everything in the beginning. Give yourself... give your BODY... time to adapt to your new fitness regimen. But never EVER turn off the tv and stop. Pause if you have to... walk away and take a break for a minute or two... but then get back in there and FINISH STRONG.
Discipline separates the 'haves' from the 'have nots'... like the famous John Wooden quote...
"The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching."
P90X Day 2 - Plyometrics... DONE.
