Insanity the Asylum - 3d Session

Just started my third session of Asylum.  This month I'm using a hybrid of P90X+ and some Insanity for additional interval training (my favorite).  Yesterday I warmed up with Fast & Furious (from Insanity) and then did Total Body from P90X+.  After a recovery week, I felt great and can't wait for Vertical Plyo this afternoon.  I have also started doing some SUP (stand up paddleboard) work for some outdoor cardio and core work - love it!!  If you live near water - give SUP a try - it beats the heck out of Ab Ripper X!!

Keep pushing play!

Asylum - Results at all ages

I just finished a month of training with my son, age 17, who completed his high school lacrosse season and wanted to condition for the summer season. We decided to do Asylum together and he is enjoying a great month of reconditioning. He completed a modified Insanity/P90X+ program with me before the beginning of the high school season and loves the modified workouts.  While a lot of 17 year olds would have trouble getting motivated, he pushes play even when we can't train together - he does a great impression of Shaun T!

In short, these programs are fantastic for athletes and non-athletes of all ages!

After Asylum

Started a hybrid program on Monday (5/23).  I actually started on Sunday when I introduced my 16 year old son to Day 1 of the Asylum.  We did Speed & Agility together - he struggled (but we all did on Day 1).  He completed Insanity in prepartion for his varsity lacrosse season and will use the 30 day Asylum template to get in shape for the upcoming summer season! As I indicated in my last post, I think Asylum is a great 30 day prep program for any sport.

Personally, Asylum has clearly made a huge difference as I start working through my hybrid program.  Today, for example, I did Max Interval Plyo.  I hated MIP when I was doing Insanity (both times).  While not trying to brag, I must say that I knocked it out of the park today - I even completed all three intervals of the Level 3 drills (16 push ups/16 floor runs X 2)!!  I have never gotten through all of the Level 3 drills without stopping!

In short, regardless of your current program, I highly recommend a visit to the Asylum and judge for yourself! In the meantime, keep pushing play!!

Asylum - Day 31 - Fit Test

Finished my first 30 days in the Asylum.  My fit test on day 30 showed significant improvement in certain areas. Asylum is a great program that will certainly help athletes preparing for an upcoming season.  I plan on doing a hybrid of Asylum/Insanity and P90X+ over the next thirty days that will add a little more strength training.  Looking forward to Tony H's new program this fall!  In the meantime, I'm going to just keep pushing play.

My First Blog (Asylum - Day 25)

I have never "blogged" before. However, after reading some of the blogs posted by the folks currently working out in the Asylum, I was motivated.  I just completed Day 25 in the Asylum which included Game Day and Overtime.  Before this afternoon's session, I hated this workout.  I'm now convinced, however, that I only hated the fact that GD/OT pushed me past my comfort level and forced me to suck it up and work beyond my self perceived limits - and isn't that really the point.

As I sit here writing this note, I realize that GD/OT does not appear on the schedule after Day 25 and, suprisingly, I'm dissapointed!  In the past I would have been satisfied with completing the goal of finishing the program.  Now, however, I plan on doing a hybrid after day 30 which will include GD/OT on a regular basis.  In short, I'm just going to keep on pushing play!
