Today is Wednesday and according to flylady.net it's also Anti-Procrastination Day.
So many of us put things off, not so much because we're lazy, but because deep down inside of all of us is a perfectionist who fears failure.
Our inner-perfectionist wants the perfect conditions to start. He or she wants a perfect outcome. That little bugger also wants to succeed without failing. But most experts will tell you that the only way to true success is through many failures.
Yes, failure is part of the learning process. How many times does a baby fall on their bottom before they walk? If they gave up on that first fall or never tried for fear of falling, we'd have a society of crawlers!!
Yeah, I'm guilty of all this too. I put off a lot of things because I want the perfect circumstances. I actually held off on starting a hobby that had been burning inside of me because I thoguht the time wasn't right. But guess what? My husband bought me the DSLR camera for my birthday! In the past, I feared purchasing a DSLR because I thought taking care of the kids would hold me back from learning how to use it. Well, I'm happy to report that I have taken almost 900 photos since March 9th (my b-day was the 8th)!!! That's a lot of photos for someone who feared not haivng the time to learn about the camera!
I learned that the best way to learn about my DSLR was to just use it and not be afraid of making mistakes!!!
So what is it that you want to start or need to begin and just keep putting it off because your inner perfectionist tells you not to? Is it opening up your Beachbody workout and actually starting it? Is it following the nutrition guide that comes with it? Is it maybe starting Shakeology? Maybe its becoming a coach and you feel you still need to lose 35 lbs? Whatever it is, stop putting it off and just do it! You'll make a lot of mistakes!!! But you'll be doing it and learning from those mistakes!
Love & Light!
