I was part of a test group for Beachbody's new Ultimate Reset Program. It's a 21 day total body detox using supplements and food and a water regimen. I've never done a 21 detox before, but I was excited to see what it would do for me. I am pretty good about keeping my weight stable, but in recent years, I could go up and down by 5-8 lbs since I retain water pretty easily. I started the program on March 28, which was a Wednesday. Why Wednesday? They said that days 3-5 were tough and that I would feel a lot of fatigue, so since most people had the weekends off from work, that would be a good time to rest. Oh, and did I say that you can't workout during the 21 days? Yup, total rest except for walking and stretching. For us diehard Beachbody fanatics, that was the hardest part, but we learned that you can be just as addicted to exercise as anything else, and this program was designed to break addictions of all sorts. So, it was Tai Cheng for me.
Because we couldn't workout, I didn't expect to really lose any weight, but was shocked to see the scale moving downward every week. I started the program right after we had returned from vacation in the Bahamas, so my weight was on the high side, 120 lbs. By the end of the 21 days, the scale said 111. I couldn't believe it! I felt absolutely no deprivation or hunger pangs during the 21 days, at least none that made me feel like I was on a diet. I ate wonderful, beautiful food, and lots of it! In fact, we were so in love with the food that almost 2 weeks later, we are still using the recipes daily!
The results of my blood work was also incredible. I dropped 32 pts in total cholesterol, with 21 pts of that from my LDL (bad cholesterol) alone! My triglycerides went down, too! My clothes fit great, my skin looks great, and I feel terrific.
It is suggested that you do the Reset at least once a year, or as often as 4 times a year, in between workout programs. I think I will do it twice a year.
I documented my journey on youtube, so if you want to check it out, look for ilovetosweat's channel. Would love to hear your comments or questions.
So, I'm a diehard Beachbody fan. Have been since my first Beachbody workout, which was Turbo Jam, in 2005. Love all the Beachbody trainers and feel like they are my friends since I've been working out with them for so many years. (Plus, I've met them all in person, so they really ARE my friends!) But every once in a while, I'd see a workout that I thought was cool and want to try it. Body Pump is one of them. But I hate going to the gym and having to coordinate my schedule around a class, only to find out that there's no room!
And then Uncle Carl (Daikeler) heard my wish and brought Les Mills Pump to us! I LOVE PUMP!!! Love, love, love this workout! I'm excited and giddy to do the workouts every day. I love the music, the trainers, the energy, the moves, everything!!! I got a bunch of friends together and they are doing it with me, and we're having a blast!!!
I hope whatever workout you're doing, you're having as much fun as I am. Cause if it ain't fun, you won't do it! Have fun!
Whew!!! I've just completed my first Brazil Butt Lift workout, and I am literally DRENCHED! It felt like I did an Insanity workout!
I have a group of 5 other women who also asked Santa for a Great Butt for Christmas! We are doing this TOGETHER and we all intend to buy NEW dresses for Christmas! And maybe one of us will win the Beachbody Challenge daily or monthly prize! Who knows?
Exactly 5 years ago, I did my first round of P90X. I remember how intimidated and yet how excited I was to start. I had never seen the infomercial since we didn't watch much tv, but through a message board I was a part of, I heard so much about it that I googled it and read all about it. It looked fierce! I had many workout videos, but none that compared to P90X. Well, that workout changed my life. I had done 5 marathons but didn't do much weight lifting and definitely had never done a pullup in my life, so I didn't have much muscle tone. After that round, muscles popped out everywhere!
Fast forward 5 years, and I have had some health setbacks since I turned 50 two years ago. The latest one was a back and hip injury from my marathon days that turned into chronic pain for over 6 months. Just sitting was unbearable, and any exercise I did caused me pain. So I've lost the muscle tone that I had built and am starting pretty much at square one again, now that I've gone through therapy and have my doctor's blessing to "go for it".
Yesterday, I did Chest and Back and ARX. I used to easily pump out 30 pushups on my toes at a time, but this time I had to do it on my knees. I'm focusing on form so that I don't reinjure myself. I completed the entire workout, plus ARX. I did all 25 reps of each exercise of ARX except the oblique v-ups. I think I did about 15 on each side. At least I know where I need to improve.
Today was Plyometrics. I totally enjoyed every minute! The speed was good for me, and I modified the jumps where I needed to, but I worked up a really good sweat and burn. I feel like I'm back in the game! I'm bringing it!
It's no secret that I love Shakeology! It's been almost two years since I added it to my daily diet. It is my choice of breakfast in the morning, over anything else I could have, even if I did have time to make something. (Okay, okay, red velvet pancakes once or twice a year, maybe!) So I can't help but talk about it whenever someone tells me that they are too busy for breakfast, or they need more energy, or want to lose weight. I feel good about it because I know from experience that it works. I've had to buy individual supplements before, like probiotics, and they are expensive! Add them all up, and they would cost way more than the $3 per shake that I pay at my coach price. And there is NO WAY I could have a meal for $3 that would match the nutrition that I get in my shake.
I drink it because it's convenient and healthy. But I had a bonus! I had heard that regular use of Shakeology lowers cholesterol, and although I've never had very high total cholesterol, my HDL was very low and my LDL was over the optimal level of 100. It was always so discouraging when I was told, you have to exercise more! I was already working out six days a week doing workouts like P90X, Insanity and Turbo Fire. Not a walk in the park!
Well, I just got my bloodwork back, and since my last report 18 months ago, my HDL went from 50 to 64, and even more impressive, my LDL went from 107 to 68!!!! I started drinking Shakeology 24 months ago. A coincidence? Hmmmm.......doubtful!
