Power 90 Day 12

Day 12 was yesterday (Sculpt 1-2).  Hooray!  I did the 21 pushups again, and this time it wasn't nearly as hard as the first time I completed it all.  Good workout.

I fixed my music "issue" (soft rock instead of rock), and it seemed my mood, as well as my workout, was much more intense.  Made for a great workout.  The only thing that was pretty tough was the curls.  For some reason my arms were really sore yesterday.  It went away within an hour of the workout, but they were really tight.  I wonder if it was because I skipped some of the stretching in order to expedite the workout?

My oldest sister is coming in town on Thursday (Day 15) and she said she was going to do days 15-19 with me!  She's getting married in January, so she wants to lose some weight and possibly get in a little better shape.  I think this is just the program to do that.

Wish us luck!

Power 90 Days 9 through 11

I'm a bit behind in blogging on a per day basis.  Since it was a long holiday weekend, it was all I could do to hit the message boards and make sure that I crossed my workouts off the WOWY calendar, but I managed.

Anyhow, Day 9.  Day 9 was completed last Friday, which was Good Friday.  I felt excellent and really pushed myself, even doing double time on the Kenpo exercises.  I felt refreshed after the workout, if not a bit sore.

Day 10 was Saturday.  I did the Sculpt 1-2, and for the first time EVER, finished all 21 of the pushups in the 3rd set!  Haven't done that before, but I hope to duplicate the efforts today (Day 12).  It was hard, and even though I upped the weights to 20 lbs (don't make fun of me), I still felt solid.

Day 11 was Easter Sunday.  What a day!  My wife and I had no visitors, so as usual I could get away with doing my workouts in less than gym attire.  I just wasn't feeling it that day.  I think it was the music I put on.  I've been using my iPod instead of the 90's super sweet stuff that is on the videos.  Typically I've used classic rock, but yesterday I went with Adult alternative rock (iTunes Genius).  So it ended up being John Mayer's and Dave Matthew's Ballads.  Nice and slow for an upbeat cardio workout.  Next time I'll choose more carefully.

Today is Day 12, and I hope I can do, no, I KNOW I can do all 21 of the pushups again.

Power 90 Day 8

Day 8 done.  Since this was a new week and I got off work early for Easter, I figured I'd try and push myself a bit by raising the weights.  AWESOME.  I raised the weights 5 lbs, and could do nearly as many reps as I could last week with lower weights.  Pumped about that.  I did, however, lower the weights for shoulder fly's, because those are darn hard anyhow.

Also did more pushups!  I made it to TWO on the regular (all 7 on the wide and insides).  Good day.  Looking forward to the long weekend, which will give me plenty of time to do my workouts as well as take some time to focus on the Son of God and what He did for us.  Amazing.

Power 90 Day 7

Today is a rest day.  I feel all right about resting today, but I feel like I should still do something.

Yesterday's workout was a good one.  I was feeling good, and overall working a bit harder than normal.  For some reason it was just a good day.  But then I weighed myself afterward.

Not good.  I know that if the goal is to lose weight you should put the scale away. But again, I was feeling good, so I decided to weigh myself.  After making dietary changes and working out 6 days a week instead of 0 days a week, I gained 1.8 pounds.

Trying to stay on the positive side, I guess that just means I am either gaining muscle, or I need to make more changes.  I'll try both and see what happens.  I'll keep you posted.

(I know probably no one is reading this, but it helps to think someone is.  That way I actually have a touch of accountability)

Power 90 Day Six

This is my first blog entry.  So here it goes.

To catch up those who are not familiar with my situation.  I started Power 90 back in February, only to have a personal injury that delayed my progress one week.  Then I sat around being lazy for an additional few weeks.

Now here I am on day 6 (completely started over) an am wondering why I ever quit.  The time committment is certainly worth the benefits, and the fact that I've slept better at night and had more energy in the day is enough to make me continue.  Sure it is hard but, and I hate this cliche', but "no pain-no gain".

Anyhow, tonight is Sweat 1-2.  I'm to the point where I can get through this no problem, but my calves (my tiny, tiny calves) seem to always hate the "jumpy-back and forthy" things.  Well, I always feel great after this one, so I'm excited.  Get home around 5:30-6:00PM from work tonight, then hit the gym (that is, my living room).  Dinner by 7PM with my pregnant wife.  What a great night.

Wish me luck!
