Personal journey with fitness, discipline and God

To whom it way concern (I know it at least concerns me),

So I just finished the pre-test for P90X and I'm feeling pretty motivated and sore. I've tried P90X twice before and both times have stopped in the middle of it. This time however, it’s different in several ways.

First off, I've realized that the last times I was doing it for the wrong reasons and therefore "molded" the results that I wanted to those particular reasons. Because I was doing that, when I didn’t get those results, it became discouraging and I just made up excuses why it wasn’t working and that I should just stop.

Secondly, I've come to a point where I really truly am comfortable with me, how I look and the different and unique way God made me. A little bit too comfortable if you ask me because it’s taken over a year for me to get back into this thing because of that very reason. Once I felt comfortable where I was at and God had taken me to a place where I not only felt "ok" about myself, but was also able to withstand the comments people made, I just got it in my mind that I didn’t need to work out because I was already "ok" with where I was at. It wasn’t like I was morbidly unhealthy. Little did I know that God had given me this new found confidence as a gift. If I wasn’t comfortable with the way I looked before motivated me to start getting fit and work out, then imagine how much more I could do when I had new found(or new given) confidence in myself. This was Gods revelation to me several weeks ago and there was no way I could ignore it or put it off because I knew this was true and I felt as if He was cheering me on saying "Yes, I've given you the tools, I've given you the vision, I've given you the confidence, I believe in you, so go ahead, you can do it!"

Now most of you are probably thinking one of two things or both. One, this guy is probably a very overweight person who is too lazy to find the motivation to even pick up the TV remote and change the channel. Or two, this guy talks to much about God and kinda uses him as a crutch to stay where he is; lazy and unmotivated to change. Well my friend let me tell you one thing about both those statements. I am actually a scrawny, skinny Mexican dude who does pick up the control when channels need changing. Also, God has transformed my life and this is just another way he continues to transform it day after day. For me life and God are intertwined, and without Him, there is no meaning to anything.

Even as I write this blog I'm beginning to apply the discipline that I know is required of me to see this through. I am determined to do this write and this blog and the people reading it will be just once source of accountability for me. I just refuse to think like I used to think, "I'm skinny therefore I'm healthy," "I can eat anything I want and it doesn't affect my body because I have a fast metabolism, I’m skinny and I see no difference in my body." I've been tooooo comfortable in the place where I have been at for so long and if I've learned anything from God it’s that to grow you've got to get out of your comfort zone.

I'm hoping I can get some help with whoever is reading this because it seem (to me anyways) that allot of people focus on weight loss and none focus on the small percentage of people who want to gain weight and don't know how. We are people to!! LOL! Today marks the beginning of a new journey I hope I can share with many others. Thanks for reading!!
