Why do you work out?

I realized how important that "Why?" statement is. Why do you work out? The answer to that question needs to be so strong that you can't let go of it. That missing a workout causes you not to quit, but to try harder! But always realize what the "Why" is...it is only a bridge to a lifetime of fitness. I believe that it is only so long that you can be motivated...no matter the reason...until you eventually burn out from it and become resiliant to it. Our brain work a lot like our body, if there is no change in action...there is no result. So what is it a bridge to?

It is a bridge to to a land where working out is no longer a chore, or I want to be healthy, for my kids, cause I want to look good, be an example, lower my cholestrol...all these reasons are no longer needed. Working out becomes F U N...testing your limits becomes who you are. Once this happens, the reasons are no longer needed, your workout becomes as fun as eating at your favorite restaurant or watching your favorite movie...you'll make the time because its so much fun (especially with others).I believe the requirement to get to this land of no return is your belief system. It is your key to get through its gates, you have to believe that working out is a NECESSITY....you have to believe that God has built our bodies to move...not be stationary in front of a screen all day long.

When you get there, then all the true benefits come to you..you finally get your "Why".....at a point when you aren't even looking for it anymore. But isn't that life? It comes when you are not looking for it?

So did you cross the bridge yet? Or did you hit the gate but then back off, or have you hit the promise land of fitness...the day where it gets fun?

Get there!! You won't ever regret it!

What it means to be a Coach...

I've been a coach for awhile now, but I've only been a coach on my favorite part..the workouts. My eating has been subpar at best. Shakeology has been really helpful, but I still have to decide what goes in for another 6-7 times per day. Not all of my decisions have been great. So for my last phase of P90X I'm almost doubling my intake of healthy complex carbs instead of cereal and PB&J sandwhiches and increasing my intake of protein. Doing it for myself is great, but it should be my priority as a Coach. Also I'm going to make sure to take my after picture monthly to keep me responsible.

Are you a Coach? Are you keeping fit with your workouts AND eating?? Or maybe you need that extra motivation and responsibility to start now? Let me know in the comments section.

P90X after Insanity

I finally completed my two months of Insanity, although it got exhausting to me a little at the end. It served up its reward by completely re-shapping and shredding my body. The new pic of my finished results are up as my after shot on my profile. I took a week off, and started up P90X. Reading the newsletters, Insanity increased my V02 Max which I now can take and use in P90X. My first day of P90X was yesterday and the sensation was amazing. Although my muscles gave out, I was never "exhausted"...my endurance has completely surpassed my strength. All I have to do now is just match them up.

Completely amazed and excited, these programs really work...and using them together as intended just compounds the effects.

Hybrid workouts, only for the brave..

Putting together two workouts programs takes a lot of creativity and knowledge. Insanity and P90X is the obvious choice for me, I'm looking for improved performance in all areas of fitness and enjoy the hardcore interval training Insanity offers. I do believe P90X offers more variety on the break days so I put in Yoga X instead of the recovery workouts from Insanity, I also place P90X's recovery and ab focus instead of Insanity's one workout week (NOT ENOUGH VARIETY FOR ME!). I find P90X workouts that Insanity has a hard time catching like Back & Bicpes, and Shoulders and Arms.

All in all, I get the best of both worlds. I had to find out the hard way though which workouts you shouldn't mix up, so it is a trial and error situation. Avoid this by going to Tony's Hybrid Newsletter...he goes through everything you need to understand when trying hybrids. http://www.beachbody.com/product/p90x-online/newsletters/p90xnl_014.do

Or...overtrain a few times...your choice. The best part overall is you get to be creative with your schedule, just don't go crazy...follow the basics.

I'll be continuing with my Insanity X, fun times to be had by all!
