Commit to Get Fit Pledge

I just made my Commit to Get Fit Pledge with the $100,000 Beachbody Challenge!  I'll be doing Chalean Extreme.  I'm a little nervous because I'm also teaching three 6am classes, and four 8pm classes a week.  If you'd like to join me on my challenge, you can pick your own program.  If "I'm too busy" is your "excuse", then go with 10-Minute Trainer. If you follow the plan, you'll still get results.  Insanity is only a 60-day program, with 30-40 minute workouts.  You could go all out and do P90X for 90 days - then you'll be ready for P90X2 when it comes out in November!  Whatever it is, get on the challenge and let's do this together!  Ready, set - let's go!

Focus on Nutrition

Lately our focus is on nutrition. We've done 2-week sets of Brazil Butt Lift, RevAbs, Insanity, and getting ready for the last 2 weeks - P90X.  Next is a full round of ChaLean Extreme.  So we've got the fitness down, logging our workouts in WOWY.  Over the past few years, we've slowly been making little changes to the foods and way we eat.  Looking back at how we ate, and what we fed our kids about 3 years ago makes me sick.  Always junk food. Lots of soda. McDonalds every week. HFCS in everything we ate.  No wonder we were always tired and sluggish - not much nutrition, but lots of junk.

We have added Shakeology as a main staple in my husbands and my diet. He's done a couple of the Shakeology Cleanses, and lots a few pounds each time, which gives him even more motivation to keep moving forward on his journey.  We have Shakeology just about every day, and we've finally started using the 30-Day Shakeology Recipe Calendar to change it up and try new flavor combos.  We can tell the difference in how our bodies are acting. Shakeology is an awesome way to get your nutrition. (Besides, I LOVE chocolate shakes, and now I have one every day and it's healthy!)

The fridge is always stocked with fresh fruits and veggies. Sodas are an occasional "treat", if you can call it that, which we only have if we eat out, which even that isn't very often because we have better control over what we fix ourselves.  We're educating ourselves on the food industry, nutrients, food ingredients and more. There are several documentaries on Netflix, such as "Food Matters", "Food Inc", and "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" that really have opened our eyes and made us want to learn more.

I hope I can help others make the same realizations that we did about our eating habits as a culture, and help them make healthier choices to live a better life.

Fitness and the Family

In the past 6 months, we've been focusing on family time. Some of that time is spent on being active.  We're seeing the change in our kids' perception of fitness and nutrition because of the changes we're making, and making it fun for them.  From frisbee, to bowling, local events, going to the park and swimming, as well as working out together in our garage gym, we've been spending time together, living a more healthy, active life. This will play a huge part in the future of our girls, and the time together is priceless.

Make time for your family, for yourself, and for fitness.  It's worth it, and something you will benefit from the rest of our life.

Catching Up

Seems I've been neglecting my blog....but not my body!  Working out hard, trying different Beachbody workout programs, and getting stronger every week!  There seriously is a program for everyone!  So far, I've tried P90X, Insanity, ChaLEAN Extreme, Turbo Jam, RevAbs, Turbo Fire, 10-Minute Trainer, Brazil Butt Lift, and even Shaun T's Fit Kids Club!  They're all awesome!  Turbo Jam and TurboFire are my faves (cuz I'm a Turbo Girl at heart), but I think for the hardcore, get it done fast program, Insanity is the way to go.  Just my opinion.  Send me a message and tell me your favorite program!  Go ahead, push play!

MultiVitamins & Shakeology

Since taking a daily multivitamin and having Shakeology for either lunch or dinner, I have eliminated my need for a daily afternoon nap. (I work mostly at home, so I have that luxury of time for a short nap).  Now I have more free time to spend cleaning, working, or playing w/ the kids.
