Hot and humid

It's been on-and-off threatening rain all day, which has made the house rather stuffy and humid.  What's worse is that now that it's finally cooling off, I have to keep the back door closed since the hubby is working on our deck, and an air compressor combined with a pneumatic nail gun isn't exactly a mix for a relaxing summer evening soundtrack.

Despite the humidity I kicked some FatBlaster BOOTY this afternoon.  It felt so good!  I've also been pretty good about eating today, so yay for me!

In other news.... I have tendinitis in my rotator cuff.  Went to see my cousin the PT this afternoon.  She wants to do a conservative PT program to prevent any further damage and to strengthen the joint.  I'm also not allowed to do any military presses or lateral raises at all, or at least use really light weights and STOP if it hurts at all.  She told me that the muscle that is primarily used in military presses (forget which one she said it was) is very small and the tendon is easily strained by too much weight.  So it's possible that the 10lbs I was doing with CLX earlier this year may have gotten the ball rolling for some major damage, and as soon as I came out of my "practicum has taken over my life" bubble and started doing TJ again, it flared up bad.  I noticed the pain was extremely severe after I did TurboSculpt for the first time, even though I only used 5lbs.  She also said to be careful even on the bicep curls, as the bicep tendon can also be strained/damaged in the same way.  Yeesh!

So for now, it looks like I'll be doing primarily cardio and no strength training that requires me to lift with my shoulders.

A setback

My right rotator cuff seems to be causing trouble.  This happened last year, about mid-February, when I was ending my  pre-wedding TurboJam regime and starting CLX.  I rested it and all seemed to be well.

This is a lot more painful.  It was excruciating at times writing on the board today, since I couldn't lift my arm above shoulder height without the joint SCREAMING at me.

Fortunately I have a physical therapist in the family who offered to do a free screening for me to see if she can give me some exercises, or if I need a formalized treatment program.  Here's hoping for home exercises - not sure if I have the cash flow going into a pay-check-less summer for a formal PT program.

A workout regime that will STICK

So, I ended up not liking Hip Hop Abs.  Not that it wasn't fun, but after doing TurboJam and CLX, it wasn't as intense as I was used to.  Even doing the higher intensity stuff, I was barely breaking a sweat.

With summer right around the corner and closing in on the date I want to start "not not trying" to get pregnant (and the date I need to get my fitness level up to par), I'm going back to TurboJam.  When I first started out on BeachBody, my sister set me up with at 10-week rotation that really gave me results I wanted for my wedding and honeymoon. I got the whole TJ set from her, including the two Get on the Ball workouts that I didn't take before (due to not having a space to store an inflated swiss ball).  I sat down last night and wrote out a TJ schedule that takes me through the end of August.  I actually printed out calendars and wrote the whole thing out!

12 school days left, plus a staff development day.  I'm so looking forward to a stress-free summer of traveling, writing, maybe taking a cake decorating course (NOT TO EAT CAKE, I PROMISE!), and of course, getting fit, and, I HOPE, getting pregnant. :)

Starting over, starting new

After a two-week hiatus (I'm kicking myself because I ended CLX with but a week to go) due to parent-teacher conferences, report card writing, and final paper composing, plus a spring break trip to Texas, I'm getting back on the horse with Hip Hop Abs.  Interesting.  It was fun, but so different from Turbo Jam....  However, there are two months left till summer vacation, and it's time to get myself moving again so I can look awesome in my shorts and tank tops - and get myself healthy before my husband and I start starting our family!

So here's to a new start!

Feels like I'm back-pedaling...

Happy Easter, first off, to everyone.

So I'm a week and one workout away from finishing CLX - which feels good.  But, I'm very frustrated.  When I started the program at the end of December, I weighed 128lbs and was getting very "squishy" again.  Now, at almost the end of the program, I'm up to 135 pounds!  My clothes all fit the same as they did four months ago, and I know I've toned up a lot.  Can muscle really weigh that much more?

I know my eating schedule has been very off balance this semester, as two nights a week dinner consists primarly of whatever people in my class bring for snack. Usually it's a pretty good snack, like fruit, salad, a couple of times people have brought chili...  I try to steer clear of the cookies and chips when people bring those.  Overall I think my eating habits haven't been terrible.  I can do better, but what I'm putting in my body is good for the most part.  Plus, because of my schedule, it's been very hard to fit in cardio, and I know that's a big problem!

I'm very frustrated.  I've never, ever, even after finishing college, weighed this much!

After CLX, I'm starting a new program. My sister lent me Hip Hop Abs and Rockin' Body.  I hope that once my class ends in a couple more weeks, I can get myself back on track!  Is there a light at the end of this tunnel?  I'm hoping to get pregnant this summer and NEED to get my body fat under control if I'm going to have a healthy pregnancy and a short recovery.
