Day 289 n the eve of Round 4

This is a bit random since I have not had an entry here since mind April. Tomorrow will mark the date to begin Round 4 of P90X. I am more than a little fired up. I am anxious to prove to myself that this will be the round that I pull everything I have learned about my self, working out and nutriion together in on X effort. I am going to cut my body fat from 22% to 11% by December 1. And no it won't be easy. Check back with me here or on my word press blog, www.robertkempfitness to trac how it's going. I'd LOVE to have you join me in WOWY every morning. I'd also like to re post a response I gave to a client whom had ask me about Shakeology, and why it was different from all the rest of the health shakes out there....

The biggest and most important difference in Shakeology and EVERYthing else on the market is that there is not another product out there that has the formula that Shakeology does. It has all the components in it that make it the world class meal replacement that it is. It's not just a protein shake, or an anti-oxidant shake, or a weight loss shake. Shakeology utilizes probiotics, pytonutrients, enzymes, vitamins and minerals in a way that enable your body to increase its capacity to receive and deal with the nutrients it needs at a cellular level.

What can I say? I'm no nutritionist. All I know is, I drink it everyday for breakfast. My coffee consumption is down to a cup and a half in the morning, I have tons of energy all day, I've lost 15 pounds and people say they've never seen me look so healthy. Shakeology and daily exercise. It works for me.

Day 147

Well here we are very close to ending Phase 2 of this round 1, and I am SO happy for a day "off." As the day wears on I have a feeling I will want to get on my bike or go for a run (or both). We'll see. Growth is found in the recovery we take and my body certainly needs it. Will Yoga X ever get any easier? The answer is no, but my "practice" will improve, my breath will become more of an ally than it currently is. I WILL become more flexible. Thank goodness it's windy, rainy and the Masters golf tournament is on the tele today. I could punch the its-Sunday-day-of-rest-and-you-worked-like-a-dog-all-week card. And just do nothing today. What a concept.

Here is my encouragement to all of you whom have ever started something and wondered what in the heck you got yourself into. Now you can't even see straight,  you are exhausted and feeling overwhelmed with weight of the fractured plate you loaded up at the buffet.  YOU CAN DO IT. One bite at a time. Over time. Try not to judge your overall being on just a few data points. Are you trending towards better action, thinking, health and wellness? That's all I try to focus on because like you, I can easily become discouraged when I take my eyes off the prize. I don't know who said it but I always remember when I'm feeling disconnected from my goals. "Obstacles are the things we see when we take our eyes off our goals." ~ anonymous

Have you ever started something and thought  'how in the world am I going to gracefully (or not) extract myself from this hot zone? And WHY did I tell everyone I was going to show up, do this, rock the house....whatever your declaration was? I'm mean seriously people, attempting to get the most out of yourself and live up to your potential as a human being is difficult. This is not for the Teletubbies. You are not some amorphous mass to be singularly shaped by everything and everyone around you. That might be about where you started from when you finally drew the proverbial line in the sand and set sail on this new odyssey, but that was then. This is now.

Whatever the gauntlet you've thrown down for yourself might be, remember to take it slowly. One task at a time, one day at a time. Drink lots of water. Take a 10 minute walk everyday to just clear your head. This is actually a critical activity for anyone whom is working on optimizing their performance each and every day. I don't care how much cardio activity you have in your workout program. Walking and taking in your surroundings is incredibly restorative to your mind and spirit. Don't miss this. It's easy to do. It's also easy not to do.

If you don't have written goals. Take 15 minutes today. Today. And just think about what you want your life to BE like.  Write it down. This is for you, you're true self goals. Not what your perception is of what someone else might want for you. I know it is challenging to do this exercise and the reason for it is simple. You know deep in your heart that there might be a gap between what your desired life is and what you are actually doing about it. The GAP. It's either causing you stress or it's motivating you. What's your choice. I like your chances when you finally decided to commit to your dreams. You are unstoppable. Believe it.

DAy 114

Is it enough to feel better even though you don't FEEL like you look any different.

Today was Core and so far that workout has done me in every time. I will keep with it. And I am determined to keep making healthy meal choices more often than not. Today I wanted to eat an entire jar of Nutella on apples but resisted. it is wicked good. I can be wicked bad. Sometimes. Today was a good day.

Day 112

This past week was a much better, more consistent week of working out. I think taking the photos after 90 days and not seeing much difference in my definition REALLY hit my vanity button. And as a result I was able to put together 8 or 9 workouts this week. And eat better. One day at  time. I think it is important to measure progress but to get hung up on one data point or another is self-defeating. It is vital to keep the big picture in mind. What is the long term goal here? Well, I am determinded to be the most fit person I know at my age......at whatever age that is. I am determined to be the best I can be. I must know what that looks and feels like. Good night. I need my rest!

Day 102

Note to self. Write blog when I'm not falling into the monitor. I have so much energy during the day but at night, when I should be sleeping it's hard to put my thoughts together. I am pleased with the progression, particularly my flexibiity. I have SUCH a long way to go however. Meanwhile, the journey IS the thing and I am enjoying becoming more fit everyday. After all these years, the diet is beginning to help the overall picture come together. Thanks to Shakeology I am drinking half the amount of coffee I used to drink and my other food choices thruout the day are so much more consisently healthy.
