new workout

hey, hey, hey! so, i just wanted to update this blog without my current workout progress. i had started insanity a few weeks back, hurt my knee (i have an iffy left one) and then took some time off. welp, ive decided to NOT continue with insanity because it seems that everytime i start it, i hurt my knee then have to quit the program which just leaves me frustrated.

so i've decided to try the les mills pump program. i made this decision because i feel that my body has reached a plateau with gaining (i eat everything) and have been preforming my own compound exercise workout program for some months. this workout involved bench press, overhead press, squats, deadlifts, chin ups and dips. so i guess it's time to 'shred up'. :) i've never shredded before, in other words, focused on lighter weights with higher reps. (and i hate any high impact cardio due to my knees). i haven't done a workout like that since i was in my 20s because my focus has been and always seems to be to get 'bigger'. well, i've gained quite a bit of weight (i want to hope/say that it's all muscle, but we shall soon see) i weigh in at 155#. 6 months ago, i was about 148#. 2 years ago i was 135#. so you get the picture. anyhow, the true test will be when i do this new workout program for 90days to see what's really up. so let's see what happens. stay tuned...

insanity

day 3 of insanity with rosalinda. yikes. cardio power and resistance was a doosy. :P glad to be back in a beachbody program as i was getting bored of powerlifting. :)

happy new year!

hope everyone is starting the year off right with good eatin' and exercisin'. just finished my workout: overhead presses, pull ups, lateral raises and push ups. still no squats for me as i'm being careful with my left knee, especially since i'll be starting p90x soon to gear up for p90x2. ;)

p90x2 is in!

and i'm very, very afraid. lol. i'm a little concerned as it's been quite a while since i did p90x. as i mentioned earlier, i'll be finishing up my weightlifting routine over the next few weeks. i plan to start p90x by the end of january/beginning of february. hopefully after that, i'll take a week rest and start p90x2. gah, hopefully. ;)

on another note, my overhead press is getting a lot stronger. i'm up to 85# for 3 reps. i know it doesn't sound like much, but considering my shoulders are the weakest part on my body, i'm pretty happy with this progress. i also benched for the first time in WEEKS since i replaced my bench with the overhead press. surprisingly, my bench was still strong at 105# for 4 reps. again, doesn't seem like much, but i don't have a spotter and i'm not on a smith, so i'm a little hesitant to pack on too much weight. my hopes is to be at 115# for 5 reps in a month.

my squat is decent at 165# for 8 reps. but i crapped out my right knee (ligaments) due to failing to warm up long enough, so i'm on squat rest for another week and a half.

pull ups are doing awesome. i'm at 15 broken down in 3 sets of 5: wide grip, a chin up grip and a reverse close grip.

i haven't done any measurements, nor do i plan on it until i start p90x again so that i can see how much of my bulking cycle for the last 4 months has paid off. i weighed 145-148 pounds 4 months ago. i believe i weighed myself the other day and i weighed in at 153. a couple of weeks before that, i was 155#. so i know there's some fat to be lost, but i'm hoping the bulk of the weight is some lean muscle. :)

that's it for me this update. :P

oh yeah.

and my order of p90x2 is on its way. yikes. honestly, i won't be even thinking about doing this crazy program until the spring, when i've put on a few more pounds and get through one round of p90x. :P
