It's November- How has your year been?

Wow... it's November already! It made me think back on my year- and what goals I had for 2011. And what has actually happened as the year rolled on.

I accomplished one big fitness goal- and that was to complete the 60-day INSANITY program. Earned my shirt this past spring!

Other goals turned into things that I was not expecting for 2011. Started out the year eating horribly when you consider the fact that I was still using margarine. Still eating boxed foods that were made with hydrogenated oils. Still consuming many foods containing HFCS. Still eating foods containing MSG and all its various hidden names... all because I was NOT AWARE that what I was eating actually contained such rotten, cheap chemicals and ingredients!!

But then in February/March- I started researching, reading and learning. A LOT. More than you know- but then again, many of you on FB DO know, as I shared many of the things I learned. Things I was SHOCKED to learn... and shocked & disgusted to realize I was eating. So I started making changes. BIG changes. Eating healthier meats- and meats NOT grown with antibiotics or growth hormones. Stopped using margarine, started using butter & coconut oil. Started saving bacon drippings for an oil source, too. Tried out many new foods that I never did before- and loved them all! I've moved away from chicken that has been pumped up full of brine "for flavor" and away from mass-produced farmed eggs. Eating MUCH less grains and food made with grains.

I've learned how to shop local as much as I can- and still learning & discovering more local sources I never knew before. I discovered that all the naturally-grown local foods are MUCH tastier than the mass-produced grocery store brands. I wouldn't have changed if the TASTE didn't matter- but it was a noticeable difference.

Not sure what 2012 will bring for me- but at least I know I'm definitely on the right track. It's not just about the workouts... it's about WHAT YOU EAT more than anything. About 80-90% of the health/fitness game... it's about what you eat.
