Sometimes, setbacks will happen in your life. You might fall off the wagon in your fitness or eating plan, you might have an injury that throws a wrench in your plans. The important thing is not letting it get you down and finding a way to overcome and push through that setback!
Several years ago, I injured my shoulder at work. It was when I first began my transformation with Beachbody and there amazing programs. At that time, instead of finding a way to overcome the physical limitations I faced with my injury, not being able to do the SI6 and Turbo Jam workouts I had been doing, I stopped exercising all together! Instead of continuing the healthy eating habits I had adopted, I returned to my old eating habits! I'm sure you can guess the results/consquenses: I regained the 25 pounds I had lost!!
I'm dissappointed to admit I've had a few setbacks in my life recently: struggling with migraines and lack of energy from my thyroid condition, I had fallen of the wagon where my workouts were concerned. Then, just as I was feeling better and ready to get back into things, I injured my shoulder (AGAIN!!) at work and will be having surgery this Monday, 3/7.
I am PROUD to admit that this time is different! Instead of letting the injury get me down, I have decided to push through and overcome! Due to pain adn physical limitations from the injury, I'm unable to do any of my Beachbody workouts which I love and miss! I have found some great indoor walking videos that I have been able to modify so that I can do a workout until I have surgery! I'm continuing to follow a healthy diet this time around too!
I know I will need to take a week or so off from exercise after my surgery to recover and heal, but I know I will continue to eat healthy. Once I am able, I will go back to my walking dvd's and eventually be able to return to my favorite programs like Turbo Jam, TurboFire and ChaLean Extreme!
Moral to my story: no matter where you are in your journey, you WILL be faced with difficulties, setbacks and obstacles! It's how YOU chose to face them and respond to them that makes all the difference in your mental and physical health as well as your results!
