Day 2 P90X

I am on DAY 2 of P90X and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! Thanks to INSANITY I was able to complete Plyometrics at the same rate as Tony Horton and the others :) (and it was the first time I did Plyo with Tony... I think I owe some thanks to Shaun T!!!) My biggest challenge right now is eating enough calories. Does anyone else have this problem? I seem to max out around 1400 and I should be eating more, but I am not sure where to add them in?! Any suggestions for P90X pro's? Until next time...

It's been a while...

It has been a while since my initial posts. I have almost made it through my first year of work and will soon have more time to focus on the coaching aspect of my Beachbody program. Being a coach has been VERY motivating to keep me going with my BB workouts :) I am in the middle of my third round of INSANITY (did other work out programs inbetween, including, Slim in 6, Turbo Jam, going to the gym when possible, walking outside...)BUT it is time for a new program and P90X is on my to do list to start on Monday (even though I JUST purchased my chin up bar and power stands about 5 minutes ago...hmm...BB tends to ship things pretty quickly so maybe they will get here within a few days!!!)

I am excited for P90X...and plan to start blogging a little more as I go through my first round of P90X!!! If you are starting on Monday let me know...we are all in this together!

My Personal Story...

I am 24 years old and have been an active gym-goer for as long as I can remember. My personal equation to fitness has 3 parts: HEALTHY EATING, EXERCISING, & STAYING MOTIVATED.

THE HEALTHY EATING 1/3 OF MY EQUATION: I have tried several diets (weight watchers, the zone, etc) in the past but have never stuck with anything too long. It's all about eating healthy, portion control, and being aware of what food combinations are best for your body/fitness goals. I don't believe in "diets," rather eating healthy is a way of living that needs to be adopted and included as part of ones everyday routine (just like the beachbody workouts).

THE EXERCISING 1/3 OF MY EQUATION: Before beachbody I'd say I finally found the time to go to the gym 5-6 days/week this summer; however, I know once I start my full time job this might change. I prefer to go to the gym during the day when it's quiet and I don't have to wait for machines, not at 5pm when everyone else has just rushed over from work to get in a work out on their way home. MY STRUGGLE: No matter what I have tried in the past, I have always struggled with toning my arms and stomach. I have tried nameless work out videos, classes at the gym, pushing myself on stairmasters, treadmills, following the advice of friends who are trainers, etc. The bottom line is trainers are expensive and I did not feel that it was the right investment for me. THE PAST TWO YEARS: While I was in graduate school I rarely found time to make it to the gym before it closed; I wish I had found beachbody sooner! During these two years I did my best to eat healthy and lost about 15 pounds (I think that I lost mostly muscle weight and was WAY too stressed!!!). I shrunk from a size 8 to a size 2-4 and have since been doing my best to maintain my current size. CURRENT SITUATION: Following water damage to my apartment and having to live in a hotel during the restoration period, I was having trouble getting to the gym before it closed at night. This made me think about how it will be when I start my first full-time job in a few weeks. I was scared I may fall into the same pattern as I did in graduate school and then I accidentally stumbled upon an INSANITY infomercial. When I heard that this program was not easy and that I would have to give it my all, this hooked my attention as most infomercials make their workout programs look like a piece of cake. The honesty that came from Sean T's infomercial is what initially got me hooked. I watched the infomercial three times before I picked up the phone and ordered INSANITY, but I am happy I did. It arrived pretty quickly and I am now on day 10 and LOVE LOVE LOVE this program. I have already noticed an increase in energy, stamina, strength, flexibility - it is AMAZING!! I am pushing myself harder than ever before and it feels GREAT!

MY CONCERNS PRIOR TO STARTING THE PROGRAM & THE MOTIVATIONAL 1/3 OF MY EQUATION: I was a bit concerned about doing this program because I have previously had 13 stitches to my left knee and a broken left ankle (both injuries within 6 months of each other about 11 years ago) and this has prevented me from being able to run to stay fit. I used to run in high school and end up in physical therapy whenever I try to get back into running (so running is out of the picture for me). I know my limits and am being careful not to injure myself while still pushing myself to a level I never thought possible. Sean T is amazing and motivates me through every workout, it's as if he is next to me telling me to GO GO GO and push through to reach my true potential!

I am so excited to continue doing INSANITY and make it to day 60. I CAN'T WAIT to see my results :) I have already been in discussion with a fantastic BB Coach and have decided I will integrate P90X into my workout routine once I complete my first round of INSANITY. I have been following the INSANITY healthy eating plan and am learning new ways of eating healthy - there is always more to learn! I would recommend the beachbody community to anyone in a heartbeat, it is a great support system and helps me stay motivated to push myself to levels I never thought possible so I can achieve the goals I have set for myself!
