Where to begin my story..I was 46 years old and prediabetic. I got to this point through a slow creep in weight gain over the last 10 years. I noticed a slowdown in my metabolism at age 36. My fitness level was good in my younger years as an officer in the Army and my weight constant at 168 and I was active in Sailing and SCUBA. I moved to California to be a mid level manager for my company building marinas and was constantly having to meet tough production schedules, often I would work alongside the crews to bring up the curve but demands over time and unhappy marriage took their toll. After the divorce six years ago I quit smoking and joined a fitness club with the money saved and committed to lap swimming but it was not enough to compensate for the weight gain trend and metabolism shift. I met the love of my life, remarried and change jobs to sales… more stress and a desk, soon a baby girl came along and before I knew it I was not going to the gym. I was coming up on my 46st birthday and was thinking I needed to lose some weight as I was over 200 pounds and it showed in my waist line. My wake-up call came when I saw pictures of hiking in the Desolation Wilderness. When I saw the pictures my brother-in-law had taken of me the truth was undeniable I had a belly. Soon thereafter I tested my blood sugar and found it was over 100. I went for a medical screening my weight was up to an all time high of 210, my cholesterol was high and my triglycerides were high. I tried a couple weight loss products but decided this was risky and threw them out. Time passed and then I saw the P90X infomercial one night while watching late night TV. I saw people my age totally transform their bodies...and thought wow can this be true...I looked up the web site; it was a complete exercise and nutrition program. I knew I could do this at home with my almost two year old and I wanted to be around in future years for her and my wife. I read all of the success stories. I thought maybe there is something to this muscle confusion. I waited two weeks and then ordered the program. I started early November and got through two weeks and all the soreness and loved it… then I hurt my knee on a 10k run. I took six weeks off and tried to restart in January but let other things in my schedule take me over. Work was laying off people and they finally came around to me in April 2009 so after three and a half years in sales I was unemployed. I decided right then let’s bring it and forget the rest. I know I'm getting in the best shape of my life. This is not an easy program but is it worth the effort, I see parallels to the military exercises I used to do but this is so much more and Tony keeps me pushing play as well as my coach who knows her stuff. I just can't wait to show my family and friends the results, I know my wife is starting to notice and my two year old daughter likes to exercise with me. I started coaching to help pass this on. My 30 year high school reunion is this year... going to showoff to the old gang…this is way cool. Decide Commit Succeed.
