I started exercising shortly after my dad died in 1994, but that was my way of dealing with my loss and then I gave it up when I started to feel better mentally. I did lose 10 lbs, but of course put it all back on once I quit.

Then after the loss of the my mom in 2001 I was really out of sorts. I was basically going through the days on auto pilot. But I didn’t actually do anything about it until March of 2003. I was at my daughter’s skating competition and we were on a break back at the hotel. I was flipping through tv channels and saw Tony Horton’s Power 90. ONLY 90 DAYS, I thought I can do this! Plus I was ready to get back to my fun, loving self for my husband and kids. So I ordered it and when it came, my husband asked what it was. His comment was “oh, another exercise video to sit with the rest”. But I showed him, I lost 10 lbs and 5 inches. I went from a size 10/12 to a 4. He was very proud of me. I was also ready for my high school reunion too that year!

Since then I've been on again off again with SI6, Power half hour and P90X. But then came Turbo Jam and I was back at it, but still didn't have the commitment that I needed. I wasn't really using the boards, BIG, BIG mistake! Then along came Shaun T and Coach Jodi (TBTA) and I'm back in the game again. With the help of Jodi and all my SIS, I'm was able to keep maintaining. I know I still have to conquer better eating habits, but I know I will get there.
I'm still working on getting my confidence back that I had loss with the loss of my parents. I know deep down in my heart that they would be proud of me and my kids that I raised.

Fall of 2009 I finished up a modified P90X and was feeling stronger everyday. The eating has finally gotten there since Feb 2010 due to migraines. Everything I was eating healthy; soymilk, whole wheat, dairy (casein whey) chocolate protein shakes were playing havoc with my body. I had to eliminate everything I had been eating and learn how to eat all over again. So now I try to eat Gluten Free, lots of brown rice veggies and protein. It has definitely made the difference. No headaches every day, or migraines 2-3 weeks out of each month. Side benefit, I lost more weight and inches yea!

Exercise has been a great stress reducer for me. I figure this way it keeps me off of the Prozac and Zoloft ;) I get cranky when I don't get to workout; just ask my hubby ;)

BTW, being a $1,000 winner on WOWY just makes me want to workout even harder!

My best advice would be to use the message boards! I wouldn't have made it this far without them. I've also made some great friends through the boards, Betty, Darlene, and Betsy.
