Our kids play sports, so I play taxi and laundry mat, a lot. Let's just say, my family keeps me hopping, and I wouldn't trade it for anything (except maybe4 thinner thighs, haha). Ahhhhh, yes, my story. Well, let’s give it a try here. I’ve always been the chunky sister. ALWAYS! (my younger sister looks like a super model… really) I was never really “fat” in childhood but always kind of just “chunky”. Teenage years rolled around, well, sports here and there, munching everything, and the yo-yoing began! Nothing to big at this point but 30lbs coming and going, and coming back…thus the beginning of my yo-yoing days. I’ve survived a lot, but am not going into details here, just a quick list off. An verbally abusive father who was also a dead beat dad, poverty, drug and alcohol addiction, quit smoking, raced motorcycles and wrecked them with bad results, became a single mother at age 19; I could go on, but you get the idea. First pregnancy with toxemia, 14.5 hours of labor ended up with an emergency C-section and a beautiful baby boy (now 19 and in college), and an extra 75 lbs, I lost it easily but continued with “weight problems”. Not to mention a kangaroo pooch that would NOT go away no mater how much I lost or worked out! Fast forward several years and I’m now the single mother of 2 (added a girl, 17 yo now and a senior in HS), but I have a college degree and have met a great guy totally by accident. Got married and since he’s in the Navy we transfer from FL to IDAHO, in DECEMBER! Well, he’s gone almost ALL the time, I’m away from my mom, home with 2 little kids all day trying to make ends meet on a sailors salary. NOT FUN, and STRESSFUL! On came the weight, like 65+ extra pounds. We transfer (this time Virginia, and a support system is born, thank you Christy!) and I get it together while he’s gone on a 6 month run, he comes home a very svelte wife. Didn’t last {sigh}. I continue on with up 20, down 15, up30 down 20! EEEEEK! More years pass and I continue to yoyo my way through them. My hubby “goes officer” and things improve so we want more kids. Finally, in 1998 I have my tubal-ligation (from after my daughter) reversed, 5 months later I’m pregnant with number 3! BRING ON THE WEIGHT! I did fine the first 4.5 to 5 months. BUT, stationed in SC, preggers, AND the HOTTEST SUMMER ON RECORD! Let’s just say I ate, and ate, and ate some more. And couldn’t really workout! Even tried the malls, they were HOT! (What is wrong with those folks? They were wondering why the shoppers weren’t coming in! HUH??!) Anywho, long made short, verging on hypertension, gained tons of weight, had a healthy baby boy (now age 7) and breast feed, used that as an excuse to keep on eating. He turned 2 got weaned, I lost weight and went down to 155, oh oh, preggers AGAIN! And again I kept doing well until month 5, then, just call me Moby! YIKES! I had ANOTHER one of THOSE pregnancies except I was healthy. Ended with yet another C-section (they refused to let me have a choice here even though I’d hade 2 V-bacs) and boy # 3 (now age 4). Breast feeding again. My youngest is 1 yo and I’m getting kind of tired of folks asking me when the baby is due. I KNOW I’m fat, and sometimes I lie about the “baby”. Sometime I just look at them like they’re idiots. Embarrassing. I go in for a DR appointment; I have kidney stones and am in a TON of pain. AND GET THIS!! The DOCTOR says to me, “…you know, if you just gain 10 more pounds the Navy will pay for the by-pass surgery.” WH-WH-WHAT!!!! I stand there in SHOCK! Aren’t doctors supposed to give you GOOD advice! Tell you to eat right, work out, and refer you to a nutritionist? SOMETHING! Well, it turns out he did me a HUGE favor. He gave me my own personal wake-up call. I realized it was WAY past time to DO IT! I began to watch what I ate, cut my cola habit down from more than a 6 pack a day to no more than 1 a day (hey, I’m a realist here, AND I’ve broken through lots of addictions, need one sometimes!). The pounds didn’t just drop away but a difference was beginning to happen.. Then my Sister-In-Law (yes, the one here on this board, HI Christy!) said she had been doing a new workout from an online company called Beach Body. It had 2 DVDs and she was on the 2nd part, would I be interested in trying out the first part. I said, OK, knowing that I needed something to keep the weight loss going, but NOT wanting to workout. Well, she loaned me Slim In 6. OK, I thought, no risk. It still took me a while to get up the courage to actually try the workout, but I finally began doing it right before Thanksgiving of 2004. My first little goal: to maintain my then present weight through the holidays. And guess what, it worked! I did not gain an ounce. But, OH MY, just getting through the first short 20 min workout was HARD!! I was gasping like a fish out of water, but I did it again the next day, and the next (umm, I'm kinda stubborn). After 10 days, I tried the second workout, much longer and now I'm really sweating, and SORE, but I stuck with it. So, she loaned me the 2nd DVD for a little while and I just gave up and ordered both the Slim In 6 and Slim Series then finally checked out the message boards and found SUPPORT! I moved on to Power 90 to get my hubby interested. To long for him, so on to Power Half Hour! Well, I was having fun with Tony so I did Power 90 Extreme! (THE X!) Loved it!! (still has my FAVE workout in it, KenpoX!) I had lost quite a bit of weight, not to mention inches, and felt better than I EVER had, but I began to fade a little and needed something more. Tried Kathy Smith, having done her stuff in the past, but while it was fun, I was too advanced for her workout. Something, something, hmmm.. Some of the folks I had began my journey with here on the Beach Body message boards found me and said they had just gotten the brand new released Turbo Jam, and were LOVING IT!! Told me to GO FOR IT!! So, what the heck, I did, and haven’t looked back! Kept ordering the new TJ stuff as soon as it hit the web page! I hit my 1 year TJ anniversary in early September and was starting to fade off a little. I had done the RYUR in early June and broken a 1YEAR plateau!! I was needing something else to keep me going help me get to my 100 pounds lost mark (hit it on 10/10/06!). I was looking on the message boards but not really expecting much, I hadn’t found anything to catch my interest here for a LONG time. Then I stumbled on this thread by a gal named Tina Kline (our own personal TJ GODDESS!), she was “Calling All Turbo Addicts” and I thought, “HEY! That’s ME!” So, I read her plan and rotation and instead of “thinking about it” I just jumped in and said, Yes! Count me in! Here I am! And feeling great! I’ve connected and learned about a lot of wonderful ladies who are one big turbo family! We give each other support, listen to each other crab, try to be honest with each other, give and get advice, and most of all we are just THERE for each other. No judgments, proof that it can be done, encouragement for every step both forward and back! I am finally nearing the end of my LONG journey into weight loss, but I’m NOT stopping! This is a lifetime ADDICTION that I do not want to break! I’m now more than 100 pounds lighter and have lost almost 20 inches just off my WAIST! I’ve lost almost 100 inches all over! YIKES! So more than 2 years later, more than 100 pounds lighter. Haven't met my goal weight yet, but I'm within 10 pounds of the "final goal". I've certified to become a Turbo Kick Instructor and I workout because I enjoy it! Now my kids have trouble keeping up with me and my husband wants to stay in good shape along with me (he's a PHH guy!). Thank you Beach Body for bringing these instructors into my home, I'd tried other in-home workouts before but they never "stuck". And there was NO WAY I was going to workout in public to start with! With out Chalene, Tony and Debbie I don't know where I'd be, but I'm pretty sure it's not here. And here,....well, it's not such a bad place to be anymore.:- ) I could NOT have gotten here with out y’all! THANK YOU! I’ve said it on this before and I’ll say it again, support (in all its forms) is a wonderful thing!
