My name is Bob Otten. I am 50 years old and in the best physical condition of my life! I have always been an athlete but over the past decade have gotten rather soft. Being 6'6" tall I wanted to focus on core strength; as a Chiropractor I appreciate the stablilty this imparts to my spine. I have been athletic all my life but in the last two decades have been more "off again" that "on again". Watching the scale inch ever upward, I felt I had to do something to insure that I would be able to enjoy the things I love to do as well as keep up with my young family. I probably started the program in better shape than most but if you were to look at me one year prior to starting P90X I was twenty pounds overweight, fat and lazy. I began my journey by doing the things I knew and enjoyed, principally running and rowing. Then my 50 year old frame started to feel the ravages of old injuries returning, particularly in my feet and ankles. I knew that if I wanted to keep doing activities like climbing and skiing, I needed a new 'program". As a health care provider, I know the importance of a multidiciplined approach to health and fitness. The P90X system provided what I was looking for with a high intensity "muscle confusion" model supported with sound nutritional suppliments and diet. Working out for results but eating for success is my new mantra. One of the dauting yet intriguing thrusts of P90X is the focus on core strength, something that has always been a challenge for my 6'6" frame. I'm happy to say that I have a core strength now that I have never known and a set of guns (and abs) I would have ransomed my soul for at age 25! The contribution to my activities like climbing have been enormous. I am stronger, more relaxed and focussed and ddon't get sick any more! On my second round of P90X, I look forward to stepping it up to the next level when I finish this cycle. Bring it!
