I am a 65 year old geezer, 6' 2" and I am disgusted with my body and specifically my huge belly. It took me 40 years of abusing my body to arrive at my current state. I look pregnant in a swimsuit.

My goals with Tony Horton and P90x are to get rid of my potbelly gut and to add muscle to my upper body. Most of my body fat is visceral fat. I want to add about 15 lbs of muscle to my frame and get my body fat down to 9% from 17% currently and get to a weight of 180. Currently 167.
For 6 weeks in April/May I went to a gym and hired a personal trainer that started me on an upper body strengthening regime as well as some leg strengthening. My body fat at the beginning of that program was 33% and 6 weeks later I had dropped to 24%. I continued on that routine with exercise bands and a suitcase size set of weights as we travel in Southern Colorado in our recreational vehicle for the summer until I got P90x delivered to the RV Resort at which we are staying.
I have done 5 P90x routines as of 7/30 in our motorhome and am quite sore but am enjoying the experience. I do have to move outside of the RV for some routines as the ceiling in the RV is 6' 6".
In addition, I had also started on an eating routine about 3 months ago of limiting my portions and I have cut out all sugar, all sodas, most wheat products which includes pasta, breads, crackers, and all starches including potatoes and rice. Meals now consist of green salads with olive oil and vinegar, chicken, turkey, and fish with at least two green vegetables. I also have small snacks between meals…a piece of fruit with a string cheese or ½ cup of cottage cheese. Am eating 6 times a day. After a daily workout, I mix a whey protein drink along with dehydrated vegetable powder in a blender in a ratio of 4:1 carb to protein. This seems to limit most soreness in my muscles. This exercise and eating routine has knocked off about 15 lbs since May. I am dropping inches around my waist, and some of my belly is receding, but I am afraid what I was doing will not get me a flat belly.
In reviewing the P90x eating plans I have decided on Level II eating program because at 167 lbs on a 6’2 frame, I have lost all the weight I need. Now what I have to do is maintain my weight and remove my belly fat and convert it into lean muscle.
I play Senior Softball during the winter months in Arizona. After not playing since I was 23 years old, my throwing arm has deteriorated to the point where I am not able to throw a softball with any zip and can barely throw a ball on an arc for 30 yards. I want to improve my strength in my throwing arm and I want to improve my overall upper body strength for batting.
I have a can do attitude and I will complete P90x….it may just take me a little longer to achieve my goals than the young folks.

Prior to P90x, I was watching my portion sizes and eliminated all the junk in my diet. With a modest exercise program, I was able to drop 15 lbs, but my huge belly remains. It measures 38.75". Reducing my belly down to my waist size below my belly of 34.5 would really be great. To actually see some muscle below the fat would be truly transformational. It is embarrassing to look pregnant at a swimming pool.
