Prior to that I had been I am 42 years old, British, living in Minneapolis and have always been reasonably fit but now have the goal of getting extremely fit all 'round. I have maintained good health and fitness since I began to take it seriously in my mid '20s but only since moving to the US last year have I taken on board the need for significant resistance and flexibility work. Prior to that I had been active mountain biking and hill running in the very rural(and hilly)area I lived in in the UK. There are no hills here in Minnesota, and it is hard to get outside for prolonged periods during the winter so after watching a P90X infomercial I decided to give Beachbody a go. What a difference that decision has made. Last year I became a father for the first time, a little late in life and am aiming to be still going strong for my daughter and her children in forty years time. Having a young daughter means I have less time for the gym and for the long cycle rides I used to take, so now I get up early, bring it for an hour, and then am set up for the day... all from the comfort of my basement. In the time it used to take me to go to and from the gym and get set up there, I can now do a full workout, without ever straying far from the baby monitor. And I am a full twenty pounds lighter and have a lot more lean muscle mass. I play all sorts of sports including soccer and tennis,I ski, mountain climb and mountain bike and have maintained a good level of general fitness over the years. Despite that I always struggled a little with my weight and wanted to get down to below my wedding day weight of 154 lbs, but with more muscle, tone and flexibility than I had then. I blew that goal away in a matter of weeks, using Power 90, and was quite shocked at the progress. Since then I have graduated to the more intense programs and am seeing a gradual decrease in body fat and a gradual increase in lean muscle and strength. As one of the informecials says... P90x isn't easy if your definition of easy is sitting on the couch. However, if your definition of "easy" is knowing you have a solution...then yes it is easy. Since starting Beachbody programs, I have sold them to numerous family members, work colleagues and friends, and hence decided to become a coach. Rather than fearing a physical decline in the coming years, I am anticipating (God Willing) a prolonged period of physical improvement and enjoyment of numerous activities. I am a fan and an advocate of the products, the forums and discussion boards and the information Beachbody makes available. Through them I have learned a huge amount about exercise, health and nutrition and have enjoyed the pleasure of passing that new found knowledge on. Beachbody is a company that is based on good intentions, sound principles, great products, and community engagement. If you're reading the bio and would like to know more about Beachbody products or about me, then by all means email me or contact me through the Teambeachbody website. I began Power 90 at the start of May 2008, but then took some time out when my wife and I had our girl and had a prolonged hospital stay. Our daughter was born with a rare but fatal (if untreated) condition called Hypoplastic left heart syndrome. She had open heart surgery eight days after being born and then a further surgery at four months. During these extended stays at the hospital I was able to keep up my routines using my laptop and resistance bands in the toilets at the hospital. This kept me fit, and sane during a really difficult time. When I didn't have the DVD's to hand I was able to do the Power 90 routines from memory. After a couple of months of Power 90, I ordered the Power 90 Masters Series in July, as I wanted more variety and a tougher test, particularly with the Cardio and Ab work. When that arrived I hopped straight to it and began another 90 day cycle. After that...Power 90x. I had excellent results with Power 90, the masters series and with P90x. I also signed up for One on One as I like the variety, and I have since added Power 90X plus and Insanity to my library. I have used a number of the supplements and made easy modifications to my diet. I dropped 12 lbs within the first month and had to go out and buy new jeans with a 31 inch waist (down three inches). I believe the drop was a combination of controlled calorie intake, and increased muscle tone especially in the abdominal area. The Ab Ripper 200 routine, is easy to remember and can be done anywhere, at almost anytime as is the Ab Ripper X routine. To mix it up, I also do the P90x+ Ab routine and the ten minute trainer Abs and now the Insanity Cardio Ab routine as well. I have been really impressed with my increased flexibility, which was an unexpected benefit which comes in really handy with a one year old to play with. I am able to play with Iona down at her level for hours on end, in a way that really wouldn't have been possible before. The combination of diet advice, nutritional supplements (Daily Whey Protein, Shakeology, P90x Recovery Formula, Omega 3 caps, and BB vitamins in my case), as well as strength and Cardio workouts seems to me to be a great formula for success. I blasted through my initial goal weight and have got down to 146lb. All the time I have lost fat and gained muscle, so now my weight has stabilised as I build strength. For someone my height (5ft 8) 146 is an ideal weight if you're well toned. Its' the same weight Sugar Ray Leonard boxed at for the majority of his career. Stupidly I didn't take any 'before' photos back in May last year, as I wasn't in really bad shape, and wasn't expecting the program to change my expectations of what I could achieve quite as much as it has. Don't make the same mistake! Beachbody has significantly changed how I view exercise. I have taken Tony's "Exercise is the architect, recovery is the builder" mantra to heart, and use the programs to create the physical strength and well being I desire, and then take that into my other fitness and day to day activities. I have learnt the value of consistency and intensity as well as rest and recovery and hence I never dread a workout. Beachbody programs and forums have taught me to listen to my body and have given me control over my physical well being that I would never have believed was possible. In my case my aim is to feel fit, flexible, strong and supple and if I'm a little 'ripped' well that is so much the better. For me however, it isn't so much about how I look, it is all about how I feel...and I feel great. The products, support and education that this company provides combined with a modicum of discipline on my part has been a recipe for success and a real sense of good will. Wherever you are on your fitness journey, Beachbody has a program that will move you forward towards ever more satisfying goals at genuinely affordable prices. In addition, their fitness products such as resistance bands, power stands and pull up bars are of the highest quality. The nutritional products and supplements are well thought out and are genuinely appropriate for the goals you are trying to reach. After plenty of research on my part, I would recommend Beachbody products in most cases, and would be honest with you in the areas I wouldn't. I am now a coach too, and would consider it a priviledge to help you on your journey too. If you are reading this and feel that I could be a source of support and motivation don't hesitate to get in contact. I would enjoy working with you.
