I've been involved in some sort of fitness activity for almost twenty years. During my twenties and early thirties, I was a AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor for 13 years. I taught all types of classes from step, rebounder, to muscle sculpting, just to name a few.
Along with teaching classes, I was part of the mgmt staff for a variety of fitness centers (Golds Gym, Worlds Gym, Fitness for Women, and various military facilities)across the South East of the US. My husband was in the military, so every time the Army moved us, I found a new opportunity to change and grow with physical fitness.
Five years ago, I decided to go back to college to better my brain. I was so tired of people asking what my full time job was! Its bewildering to think that you are that shallow and not giving back to yourself all that you are capable of.
In retrospect, my activities decreased - stress increased - and after a year in - I was 20lbs heavier. Throughout my college years, I kept healthy (to most standards). I worked out sparatically, and ate low fat foods. The time spent at the computer was the choke hold - along with the stress from raising a family, going to college full time, and free lancing - that really kept my weight way above my comfort zone.
I finally graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture and Design, May 2009. Now I am able to set my own schedule for working out, around my work appts- since I run my own business. Some days its more difficult, but writing it all down makes me adhere to it. I'm treating it as if it were a class in school!
I began the P90X June 30 and so far (its Aug 25th) I've lost 13 pounds so far and feel more like my old self. Today I put on a pair of pants I hadn't worn in two years. What a wonderful feeling. I'm advertising on facebook and to my friends 24/7.
Looking forward to meeting all of you, and "bringing it."
