The excellent workout programs, the accountability provided through WOWY, the information and the friendships made through the message boards have truly changed my life. When I was 32 my wife needed a kidney transplant. Since we were the same blood type I wanted to be tested as a match. I was so heavy and out of shape that the doctors told me that they would not test me because I was too obese and had medical issues (pre-diabetes, high cholesterol) that they wouldn't be allowed to operate on me. Last year she almost needed a second transplant. I was tested and not only was a perfect match, but my health was perfect! Luckily her health improved and she has not needed a kidney. So I need to keep this baby good and healthy for whenever she needs it ;)
Exercise and good clean healthy eating can significantly improve your life. I will love to share with you my experiences, guide you and motivate you in your journey. Being healthier is possible. At 42 I am at better health than when I was 22!! and I have the medical test results to prove it. :)
I already told you what was my main motivation to loose weight and get stronger, but you can read "My Transformation" below for more details about my weight loss and health gain journey.
I will tell you a little more about me. I was born, raised and went to college in sunny (and hot and humid) beautiful Puerto Rico. In 1992 moved to the awesome City of Columbus, Ohio to attend OSU and we liked Ohio so much that we never left. Now we are ohioricans, ha!
I am an environmental scientist, biologist and an environmental planner. In my day job, I work in environmental protection, and helping cities, businesses and anyone implement recycling practices, composting, energy recovery and anything related to environmental sustainability. I also help some farmers that grow organic crops and livestock. I am very passionate about that (ok, some might say tree hugger) cause it is just as important for our health as exercising. Feel free to talk to me about that too.

I reached my highest weight ever of 260+ the Summer of 2004. I was walking 30 min 3 times a week but I wasn’t very consistent week after week. Other than the sporadic 30 minute walks, I was an absolute couch potato! But by then my size 42 pants where starting to get tight and when it got time to go up to 44 I knew I needed to do something soon. Then one night that Summer I saw a BeachBody infomercial for Slim in 6 and while researching it I found out about P90. I decided to try P90 first and started walking while the shipment came in and I came back from vacation, felt “ready”, etc. However, with diet (meaning not eating 3 donuts as a snack) and walking I managed to loose 25 pounds before starting P90 in October 2004. I started P90 in October 2004, by then I had come down to 240-5 on my own. I started P90 and started browsing the message boards. With the guidance and support of many buddies I completed P90 without missing a day. Even when traveling for work! Through P90 I discovered a love for working out and feeling stronger. So how many pounds I lost with P90? About 4 to6. That’s correct, just about four to six pounds. However I went down to size 38 pants. Two sizes down! Remember, I was a total couch potato with no muscle tone at all. I was just big wad of fat. With P90 I put down a lot of needed muscle. One day my wife ran into me and said “Wow, before running into you was like running into a padded couch, now is like running into a wall.” I felt a lot more energetic and that motivated me to continue exercising. After P90 I did Slim in 6 and Power Half Hour and by the time Turbo Jam came out in August 2005 I was about 227 pounds. I started Turbo Jam when it came out and thanks to it by summer 2006 I was down to 200 pound! It took me at least 17 months to loose 60+ pounds and go from a size 44 to a 36. My journey has required a lot of patience and consistency! After Turbo Jam I have done Hip Hop Abs, Rocking Body (hey, I’m puertorican, we love to dance!), P90 Master Series, Chalene Extreme and Rev Abs. For the next 3 years I have maintained the weight loss, increased muscle and went down to a size 34 even though the weight was still at around 200 pounds (more muscle thanks to Chalene Extreme!). My attitude changed so much that I also got certified as a Turbo Kick instructor. BTW, Turbo Kick is the gym format for Turbo Jam / Turbo Fire. At 200 pounds I still needed to loose another 40 pounds or so to reach goal (according to charts). By September 2010 I weighted around 180 pounds and had maintained that weight for about a year. Using a Bodybugg helped a lot, totally recommend it. I did Turbo Fire and a round of P90X and totally enjoyed those programs. But weight loss and healthy habits are a learning experience more than anything. During 2011 I had several great professional opportunities and traveled a lot and I became inconsistent and lax with my workouts and habits and by the end of 2011 had gained 20 pounds backs. But that is over, I'm right back on track doing ChaLean Extreme and TurboFire before attacking P90X again to get ready for P90X2.
