Hi! My name is Arlene. When I joined Beachbody in the fall of 2008, I was completely focused on trying to improve and enhance my life. BUT then on July 1, 2009 my world started falling apart. My 81 yr old father fell at home and broke his hip and past away on July 4th. All of his affairs were suddenly dropped on me, my brother and sister. It took us every spare minute of the summer to get

I have tried many diets over the years. Weight Watchers and LA Wightloss worked for me but only in the short term. Some how the weight found it's way back.

I have been meeting with a nutritionist for the past yr. We have struggled trying to find the right balance of exercise and calories. Nothing seemed to work. I suspect it's in part due to all my yrs of yo-yo diets. My metabolism is really fouled up.

I was really getting frustrated but in September 08 our city YMCA announced a contest that mirrors the "Biggest Loser" show. I joined a team of coworkers for the 12wk contest. It was at this point I knew I just couldn't let my team down. It's now the end of November. Through the past eight weeks I've had my ups and downs. But one thing I've tried to do is change my way of thinking. Why do I always think of others first before me? This is for me and my health too.

My nutrition counselor convinced me to add weights to my daily workout. I was very skeptical, actually she tried to get me to do this early on too, but I just couldn't bring myself to it. I coulnd't believe that a few minutes a day a couple of times a week would help. But, I'm begining to think maybe it is helping. Because, for the first 9 months with the nutrition couselor nothing seemed to work. I'd loose a pound then gain two.

Now my daily goals are a minimum of three miles. Either by treadmill, eliptical, stairmaster, walking outdoors or any combination of any two. Sometimes I use a spinner and the minimum on that is 10 miles.

My daily nutrition goal is 1200-1300 calories a day and I strive to break them down to 5 small meals rather than 3. I also strive to get in a minimum of 64oz of water daily.

It's just been since August that I've tried to do this and so far it seems to be working. Sometimes only 1/2 a pound but at least it's down. This is the most frustrating part. I always want to see a big lose but in the back of my mind I know that's not good.

My nutrition counselor became a coach for Team Beachbody this yr. I decided to join Team Beachbody becuase I know with my slow weight lose, I'm going to need advice and especially encourgement to keep going.

My dream goal is to get to 140 lbs. But probably realistically 150 would be nice.
