Hi, my name is Scott Burgess and I am originally from Ontario, Canada. I moved to McKinney, Texas in 1996 and became a US citizen in January, 2008. After completing my MBA I worked in the telecommunications industry for 21 years. I currently trade stock options and work as a Team Beach Body coach.

Transformation story

In 2002 I weighed around 215 lbs. I started mountain biking with a friend on weekends and I lost 15 lbs in a year and improved my overall level of fitness.

In 2002 I weighed around 215 lbs. I started mountain biking with a friend on weekends and I lost 15 lbs in a year and improved my overall level of fitness.
In January 2005, I had a mountain biking accident which led to surgery on my left shoulder in March. In May, my surgeon allowed me to ride on the roads (trails were too dangerous as my shoulder was still healing). A couple (BikerTerry – TBB coach & his wife) invited me to ride with them. I started riding my mountain bike on the road with my road biking friends. I had a hard time keeping up with them but my fitness level improved quickly. BikerTerry convinced me to buy a road bike and join his cycling club. In late May I bought a road bike and in August I joined the PBA (Plano Bicycle Association) cycling club. BikerTerry coached me and taught me road biking skills, and group riding etiquette. I became passionate about road biking and rode 5,000 miles the first year.
I also joined a gym in August 2005 and worked with a personal trainer (TheChief – TBB Coach), to help me rehabilitate my shoulder, build muscle mass, and reduce my percentage of body fat. By December of 2005 I had reduced my weight from 200 to 190 lbs, reduced my body fat to 19%, and improved my left shoulder’s strength and range of motion.
I have maintained this level of fitness by cycling with my cycling club, attending spin classes at the gym, and weight training at the gym on a regular basis. I have recently joined Team Beach Body as a coach in order to learn more about fitness training, nutrition, and to help others live a healthier lifestyle by supporting them in achieving their weight loss and fitness goals.
The peer support provided by the Team Beach Body community helps me stay motivated to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, based on regular exercise,proper diet and nutrition. I also derive great satisfaction from helping others achieve their weight loss and fitness goals.
