Hi, I'm Brett and I live in a small community in southern Oregon. I'm a truck driver by trade and have also started two small businesses, one of which being this one at team beach body. I also recently became a Turbo Kick instructor and am really excited as I found one of my niches in persuing fitness to a higher level and will eventually be working for Powder Blue Productions. I had always excercised off/on throughout my life, whether work or play but never was consistant in getting into great shape and staying there until one day approx. 8 1/2 yrs ago, I looked in the mirror one day and realized that after some negative 'stuff' in my 20's that had turned into a downward spiral of my health, that not only did I not like the way I looked and felt, but knew that this is not where I wanted to be as I was beginning to look a lot older than 32! And after discovering the Body-of-Work video/Body-for-Life book, I took on the challenge and entered several contests over a period of two years which is what my photos represent as I started in Jan. 2000 and finished the last contest in March 2002. The first photo was actually taken 1 yr after I started(can't find the initial photo) so I had already dropped some weight by that time and had gained some lean mass. I went basically from 26% bodyfat down to 6% bodyfat gaining 10# of lean mass and dropping 45# of fat. I have put some of that back on but am working now to obtain that same physique again. I've already lost approx. 8# since the beg. of August. I did that by doing 3 dys/wk of weight resistance training for 45 min. to an hr. and 3 dys/wk of high intensity interval cardio for 20-30 min. while changing my nutritional lifestyle 180 degrees. I also did things like Tae-Bo(which is where I eventually fell in love with Turbo-Kick/Jam), playing basketball, riding my mountain bike whenever I could, and eventually taking cardio-kickboxing and Turbo-Kick classes while on the job, driving truck using my local gym travel pass wherever I travel as I still do now. I've been slowly transitioning careers so that I can teach people by inspiring them to be more loving and compassionate to themselves as well as to others by taking better care of themselves through fitness and health and wellness while at the same time giving them a chance to prosper financially by starting their own business. These are two of my greatest passions in life. Being loving energy and recieving loving energy which I personally feel, if you have that, you've got EVERYTHING!! I love being able to create possibilities for people helping them to achieve their dreams while being a beacon of light to fire up inside that which has been dormant for a long time, and that's their spirit!
We all know that with making changes, there's always some sacrifice. One has to be willing to pay the price for excellence whether it be in fitness or any area of your life, sometimes along the journey it can cost you certain relationships with people who may not support your journey and yet you'll gain special relationships with people who do support and inspire you. I have many who have inspired me along the way and who I'd like to thank first and foremost is God, then my mom, my grandpa, my former wife, indirectly and her parents; Bill and Shawn Phillips-creators of BFL, Billy Blanks(Tae-Bo), Chalene Johnson(Turbo Jam), both whom I've had the priviledge to meet and the many fitness instructors who I'd also like to thank up and down the west coast whose gyms I've been in: Andre(My mentor and friend), Qerrina(Q), Andrea(Ongy), Bobbie, and Mo from Gold's Gym in Sacromento CA, Mary from Balley Total Fitness in Fresno CA, Pete from Gold's in Madera CA, Dave Dixon and his crew of ISK(Industrial Strength Kickboxing) from the bay area health clubs and Holly from Oz of Medford, my main TKB trainer and fitness coach for teambeachbody as well. And lastly but not leastly for Travis, another mentor and friend of mine from my area! I'm sure I've missed a few more that should be on this list! My plans are to continue reaching people inspiring them to attain a higher standard for themselves and becoming their (or your) mentor. Also to reach my other personal goals, one of which is becoming an area promotions director(APD), presenter for TKB, while building outstanding relationships with people.
