I am a single mom, to a beautiful 6 year old girl. I just finished my Masters in Mental Health Counseling and am a certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant. I love working out and as a Beachbody coach I have the pleasure of working with people to achieve personal goals with regard to physical and financial wellness. My journey to personal health and wellness began after I had my daughter and I am a single mom, to a beautiful 6 year old girl. I love working out and as a Beachbody coach I have the pleasure of working with people to achieve personal goals with regard to physical and financial wellness. My journey to personal health and wellness began after I had my daughter and found myself uncomfortably overweight. I was at the point where walking up the front steps to my apartment building was painful on my knees. I began with Slim in 6 in January 2004 and haven't looked back since!!! The road hasn't been entirely straight. The journey has had valleys and peaks of fitness and weight, but I've never returned back to where I was.
My immediate goal is to help others experience the confidence boost that comes from improving your health. Your goal may be to lose weight, tone up, gain muscle or maintain hard earned results. Whatever your goals I am here to help!!

Well, it's been a while since I updated this info. I have had some health challenges, namely hypothyroidism. All my weight loss success is no more. :-( The great thing is that although I have gained weight back, I have not stopped working out and am in the BEST shape of my life!!!! These years working out with BB and working as a coach have given me a strength, confidence and fitness level, I never thought I would have.
I have my thyroid under control now and am focused on losing the weight that will eventually have a negative impact on my quality of life. I look forward to walking this road to ultimate fitness with you as a buddy and coach!!!
I started a round of P90MS July 1st. Almost 2 years to the day of my last P90MS round. (Scroll down) I will be doing Insanity after this is done and hopefully I will be at my goal weight of 170 by my birthday, November 23. I have a way to go, but I did it before and have the nutrition and fitness knowledge to get back to where I was....Come and join me!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am a mom to a wonderful 4 y/o girl. After I had her, my pregnancy weight fell off and I thanked my lucky stars. Soon the rigors of being a single, stay at home mom started to take their toll. Add depression and isolation and I found my 5'9 frame carrying 228 pounds. My knees hurt and my self esteem was at an all time low. I looked in the mirror in January 2005 and decided something had to give. I was no longer able to go out and exercise with my dog the way I did pre-baby, so I needed another option. I was still breastfeeding on demand, so the probability of interruptions was pretty high and I didn't have the option of leaving her to go to a gym. I started off with Pilates, but knew enough to know I needed some serious cardio to get off the weight I needed gone. I burned off 10 lbs. with Pilates and diet. I couldn't even think of a goal weight at that time because it would have been too discouraging. I was on the South Beach Diet board and read about Slim in 6. Hey... WHY NOT??!! So I got it. I was so sure all my weight would be gone in 6 weeks. I was a believer. When I started I couldn't even do 1 jumping jack. I sat down and cried when I fully grasped how out of shape I was. The BB boards saved me from giving up; reading the stories of people who had already succeeded, as well as those who were trudging along like me, was so inspirational. The ladies on the African Americans doing Slim in 6, are a major reason I am were I am today. I found cheerleaders in cyberspace who let me know I wasn't alone and I really could succeed. I started SI6 on March 14th and I completed it. I was hooked. I moved on to Slim Series. LOVED IT! I started P90 and couldn't stay focused long enough finish. Oh well! I did a few rounds of Power Half Hour. I did Yoga Booty Ballet and am still hooked today. Then, I gave in. I read about Turbo Jam, I saw everyone in WOWY doing it, but "I am not into all that jumping around stuff". Yeah well, that was about 1500 rotations ago. I am a TJ addict. I have purchased every TJ video and am waiting with baited breath for some new ones. My favorite is Total Body Blast!! I did not lose weight as rapidly as some of the success stories you may see on this website. I am 2.5 years in and I have lost only 48 pounds. I have gone from a size 24 to a small 12 and I am still working my way down. I have hypothyroid and that makes it a bit more difficult to lose the weight at the rate I would like, but I keep going because I feel so good. I FEEL terrific. I look pretty good at this point too, but I FEEL great. I have energy to play with my daughter!! She knows Debbie, Chalene and Sean T ("he's so cute")!! She does yoga with me and tries to lift 2 pound weights. She is seeing her mama be healthy and that means more to me that achieving a certain pant size. The Fitness Advisor, helped me immensely by suggesting rotations and reigning in my constant desire to over train in an effort to lose 60 pounds in 3 weeks!! LOL. I do doubles, but I am much more knowledgeable about what I am doing to my body and the best way to achieve results without hurting myself. So much of what I know about effectively working out came because I had access to his vast knowledge! Thanks for the resource MDB!! The boards are such an incredible resource. I don’t have enough words to express how significant they have been in my journey thus far!
I am almost at the end of my transformation journey. My last hurrah will be to complete Power 90. I begin on July 9th. (I intended to start July 2 but a good friend of mine convinced me to start a week later with her.) I have enlisted all my WOWY friends for support and I am determined to make it through a full rotation this time. Whatever weight I reach by my birthday, November 23, will be the weight I will maintain. I look forward to updating this story over the next 5 months. Million Dollar Body, here I come!!!
UPDATE - 8/16/2007
Well, I started P90MS on July 9th!! In the past month, I lost 2 pounds, ~6% body fat and 1 inch on each thigh. Those stats don't begin to capture the change in my body's appearance and my sense of self. My stomach has never been so defined! I am so thrilled with what is taking place I almost have no words. Over the last 60 days I am going to make a more focused effort to keep my diet as clean as I can. I really would like the scale to move, but I will take muscle definition and a higher weight over skinny fat any day!! So I will be checking back in in another month to update again.
I have also decided that I will be continuing on to the X (gasp) either after this round of MS or one more, so we are looking at a start date of late October/early November or January. What a way to start the New Year!!
