I had always been an active child and continued my fitness throughout high school with cross-country (where I became co-captain), indoor, and outdoor track. In my senior year of high school, I began studying martial arts, which I have been studying, and teaching for thirty-six years now. My 26-year career in law enforcement kept me in reasonably good shape throughout the years; however, I noticed that as I got closer to 50, a spare tire started to appear around my middle. In June 2004, at the age of 49, I began training for my first marathon, at 200 pounds. I lost 20 pounds during the training and on race day, I felt like I was in great shape. Then in 2005 I found Beachbody! I started training with Power 90. From there I went to Power 90 Master Series then Power 90x. Through these programs, my strength and flexibility greatly increased. My endurance also increased and although my weight stayed relatively the same, the physical changes were impressive. While gaining muscle mass in my upper body I lost four inches in my waist and I was in better physical condition than after training for, and running, a full marathon.
In addition to those previously mentioned, I have also worked out with the following Beachbody programs: P90X+, Ten Minute Trainer, Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire, Insanity and Body Gospel. Because of the programs offered by Beachbody I am in the best shape of my life at age 54 and I decided to pay it forward by becoming an Independent Coach for Team Beachbody. Thank you Beachbody!
